I LOVE purple! I decided to do a look to prove that purples can be subtle. When I posted the pic on social media (yes, the proverbial car selfie), without even having done my hair, I got a huge response. So, here are the products I used:
I prepped with Perricone MD Face Finishing Moisturizer, followed by Make Up For Ever Step 1 Equalizer Hydrating Primer.
I applied Urban Decay’s Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup in Shade 7.0, using Urban Decay’s Good Karma Optical Blurring brush. I followed with Urban Decay’s Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer in Medium Dark Warm (under my eyes, and other flaws), using It Cosmetics for Ulta Airbrush Blurring Concealer brush. I set with Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Powder, applied with Urban Decay’s Good Karma Finishing brush.
I contoured on my face, neck, and nose, with the Kat Von D Shade Light Contour palette, using Too Faced’s Teddy Bear Hair Flatbuki brush and a Smashbox mini blush brush. Cheekbones were contoured with Becca’s Shadow & Light Contour Perfector with a bareMinerals fan brush. Again, I set with the Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Powder. I used It Cosmetics for Ulta’s Velvet Luxe Sculpting brush to sweep Urban Decay’s Afterglow 8 Hour Powder Blush in Bittersweet onto my cheeks. After applying blush, I highlighted my cheekbones with Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Rose Gold, using It Cosmetics for Ulta Velvet Luxe Empress Fan brush.
I primed my eyelids with Lorac’s Behind the Scenes Eyeshadow Primer. All eyeshadow used was from Too Faced’s Chocolate Bar: Champagne Truffle on brow bone and inner eyes, Amaretto on eyelids, both shades applied with It Cosmetics for Ulta’s Velvet Luxe All Over Shadow brush. I then used Triple Fudge on the crease and outer corners, applied with a Smashbox Shadow brush #32.
I did my eyebrows with It Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Brow Pencil. I lined my eyelids with Buxom’s Pen & Ink liner in black, and my lower waterline with Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Lust. I finished my eyes by using two coats of Guerlain’s Maxi Lash So Volume Mascara in black. Finally, I set my face with Coola’s SPF 30 setting spray, and applied Lipstick Queen’s lipstick in Nude Metal.
Have you ever used an unusual color in a subtle manner? Do you have a favorite?
