Aang! Hope you’re all having a fan-tabulous April! We’ll be heading to dinner with Jerry’s fam on Sunday for Jerry’s birthday, hoping it won’t be cold and yucky outside!
While we’re on the subject of “cold and yucky,” with the new season here, it’s the perfect time to re-evaluate our skincare routines. With the harsh winter, our skin gets drier and loses its luster, so it’s always a good idea to “kickstart” our regimen with the milder environment. And… a box from Pixi Beauty arrived just in time! Have I told you how much I LOVE getting packages from Pixi…?!?! 😉
Well, this box contained a plethora of super-duper Skintreats: Peel & Polish, Glow Mud Mask, T-Zone Peel Off Mask, and the NEW DetoxifEYE and Glow Glycolic Boost Mask. This was like a glow-spa in a box! I honestly couldn’t decide which to try first- then I noticed there was a little spinner in the middle…lol! Thanks for making my decision, easier, Pixi!
Peel & Polish
Peel & Polish is an awesome enzyme peel that resurfaces to reveal radiantly smoother, softer skin. It contains lactic acid to exfoliate and clarify (one of my fave ingredients), papaya fruit extract to improve texture, and sugar cane extract to reveal a natural glow.
The neat thing about this mask is that it’s both a chemical and manual exfoliant- it has naturally exfoliating ingredients, as well as tiny little granules to physically exfoliate. To use, apply to your dry face and neck, leave for 2 minutes, then rinse off and pat dry. If you’d like more exfoliation, lightly massage before rinsing.
I have oily but sensitive skin, so I usually just use chemical exfoliants except when I have retinoid dryness and peeling. So, I love that I can get some great exfoliating benefits without the irritation. When my skin starts flaking from getting dry, or from using tretinoin, I can get the extra manual exfoliation if I need it. So, this is a great exfoliant that most people will be able to easily use.
Glow Mud Mask
Glow Mud Mask is a glow-revealing clay mask that purifies and balances the skin in 15 minutes. The mineral-rich signature treatment absorbs oil while drawing out impurities. The complexion receives an energizing boost while fighting breakouts. The ingredients are natural yet powerful- kaolin and sea salt purify, and ginseng and aloe vera balance.
The mask can be used 2-3 times per week, or even as a spot treatment when needed. Simply apply a thin layer to clean skin, avoiding the eye area. Leave on for 15 minutes, then rinse off, and for best results, follow with Glow Tonic.
Mud and clay masks are some of my fave facial treatments. I love how the natural ingredients can help draw out the yuckiness from my oily, acne prone skin, while at the same time providing a decent dose of skin-loving minerals and ingredients.
T-Zone Peel Off Mask
The T-Zone Peel Off Mask helps draw out impurities and lifts out oil for immediate results. A unique green superfood blend with avocado, cucumber, aloe, green tea, and bamboo extract helps to firm and refine dull, tired, and congested skin.
Green tea is a great antioxidant that helps firm the skin, seaweed conditions and renews, and avocado helps hydrate and smooth. To use, apply an even, thick layer only to the t-zone, wait for it to dry completely, then peel off. Easy-peasy! And gratifyingly fun to use…lol!
I have to admit, this is probably the product I was most skeptical of, as I’ve often found that peel-off masks tend to have a weird “chemical-y” smell. This did NOT! I had no worries using this, as there wasn’t the typical peel-off mask smell- just kind of a light, fresh, scent. And the pearly green is just so pretty! It was easy to peel off, and my pores looked much clearer!
DetoxifEYE
The DetoxifEYE hydrogel eye mask patches are a convenient way to reduce under-eye puffiness and dark circles, while hydrating and soothing at the same time. The ingredients include hyaluronic acid and caffeine which not only help address puffiness and dark circles, but help plump fine lines, too.
I REALLY like how these are more eco-friendly than other brands, as there are 30 pairs of masks (60 total patches) in a jar, with a generous amount of serum, and a little spatula. So, it’s not like just one pair of tiny masks in separate packages- the separate packages are kind of needed for face sheet masks so they don’t all stick together, but seem kind of wasteful for tiny eye masks. They’re super easy to take out- just use the little spatula, which also helps avoid bacterial contamination.
It’s hard to see in the pic, but I really like how these are sparkly! They’re the trademark Pixi green color, with little specks of shimmer, which makes them even more lux. They’re very soothing and cooling, even more so if you stash them in the fridge. I’ve found them to be super helpful with my allergy eyes!
Glow Glycolic Boost
Glow Glycolic Boost is an instant brightening and hydrating sheet mask. The serum in the mask packets contains glycolic acid to brighten and herbal extracts to improve and maintain the skin’s health, in turn promoting more luminous skin.
Sheet masks are one of my fave ways to pamper myself when I’m in a hurry- they’re simple to use, travel-friendly, and they’re a great excuse to lay back and relax. This mask felt like a thin cloth, so it was very soft and comfortable, and easy to adjust to my face. It’s very wide, and I had to fold the edges to keep them out of my hair, so the size is generous enough to fit almost any face shape.
I left the mask on for about 30 minutes, though it says 10-15, and had no adverse effects, even with sensitive skin. There was also enough serum that even with leaving it on so long, it never dried out. After I pulled the mask off, I simply massaged the remaining serum into my skin, and was left with a dewy glow!
Overall, I’m super happy with these Pixi Skintreats– it’s hard to choose a fave! But, Pixi products are so reasonably-priced, that I don’t feel I need to pick a single fave- I can have MANY faves…lol. Discover your own faves at PixiBeauty.com!
