I had never used an eyelash primer before, until my friend Troycie used Dior’s primer on me. The results were phenomenal! No clumps, no tarantula effect! So, when I got a reward box of goodies from Missy at the Bossier City Sephora Inside JCP, I was really intrigued because it included a lash primer.

Tarte Opening Act 1 Tarte Opening Act 2

According to Tarte, this primer contains volumizing and conditioning agents to prep lashes, resulting in length, volume, and curl. So many people keep putting stuff on their lashes that looks a hot mess, so I’m a bit weary every time something other than just straight mascara is suggested. But, Missy assured me this was a fantastic product- she was right!

The thing I like best about this is that although it is white, it dries almost clear. This enables you to see exactly where you are putting it, but no white will show through if you don’t apply your mascara perfectly. In the close-up photo, it had started to dry, so it wasn’t quite as white. I found it difficult to get the camera positioned and focused before it started to dry- technology and I don’t get along! Also, I could not find my lash comb, but even so, it wasn’t too horribly clumpy.

When testing an eyelash product, I always use just one coat in order to evaluate it effectively. I used one coat of primer, and one coat of mascara. But, it looked like I had on several coats, so this was definitely a winning product. I can’t wait to try it out with more than one coat!

Tarte Opening Act Lash Primer retails for $24.00 for 0.20 oz.
