Hello beautiful people!
A while back, we did a post about SiO Beauty’s décolleté system for preventing wrinkles (read it here). The system consists of cleansing discs, serum, and a silicone pad to wear at night to prevent décolleté wrinkles. I think the system is fab since I’m a side sleeper, plus it’s easy to use, and it WORKS.
Now, SiO has developed medical grade silicone wrinkle patches for our faces and necks!! When I got the email about these being launched, I was SO EXCITED!!!! Before we started blogging, I used to get Botox injections- which I LOVE and will probably get them again at some point. But, SO many people don’t want to deal with injections for myriad reasons.

I knew a popular beauty subject is antiaging and addressing wrinkles, so this would naturally be a main focus when we started our blog. As I couldn’t properly evaluate antiaging products with Botox, we decided I would go without the injections for a while. This would allow me to get a true idea of the results from other products.
If a company tells you their product is like “Botox in a bottle,” it’s not. Botox (onabotulinum toxin A) works by “paralyzing” the facial muscles, thus reducing wrinkles for a period of several months. NOTHING works like onabotulinum toxin except onabotulinum toxin.
BUT, there are some great products out there that will give temporary results similar to Botox. One of those products is wrinkle tape or patches. These are basically stickers that are worn overnight, or for several hours prior to an event. They prevent movement of the facial muscles, thus temporarily “training” your face not to wrinkle.
I’ve had fantastic luck with these, especially with the “elevens” that are starting to develop between my eyebrows. I also have a crooked face, so I’m starting to get a smile line on my left side. But hey, at least it’s just one side, right…?!?!
I’ve found that by wearing wrinkle patches every night, not just before an event, the results last a good bit longer. The advantage to using wrinkle patches are that unless you’re allergic to adhesive or something in the material the patches are made from, there are no negative side effects. Injections can cause a plethora of negatives, so despite the results being temporary, wrinkle patches are much safer.
Another reason I was so excited about the SiO patches is that they’re made of medical grade silicone. Regular adhesive patches can be uncomfortable to wear, and they can get annoying at times. The really neat thing about SiO patches is that they’re made from silicone and oxygen (hence the name “SiO”). The atoms are crosslinked with hydrogen and carbon, so they’re actually breathable. So, unlike other wrinkle patches, they don’t make my skin hot or sweaty. The silicone really feels like a second skin, especially after it warms to your exact body temperature.
Furthermore, the silicone patches don’t just help reduce wrinkles- they actually benefit the skin itself. According to numerous scientific studies, silicone patches actually increase the hydration level of the skin (Bleasdale, Finnegan, Murray, Kelly & Percival, 2015). So, you get the physical benefit of training your facial muscles to relax, plus extra hydration can create a plumping effect. Nifty, huh?
SiO patches are super easy to use, simply remove the plastic, relax your facial muscles, and stick ‘em on. They are all the perfect size except for one. The brow patch was much too large for my forehead and didn’t stick very well because it went over my hairline and eyebrows. But, this was an easy fix- I just trimmed a little bit off at a time until I got it to a size that would work for me.
Like with other wrinkle patches, I got fantastic results, and my face was really smoothed out in the mornings when I woke up. The more I wear wrinkle patches, the longer the results last- so I try to use them regularly.
The only negative is that at first, the SiO patches seem a bit pricey- but keep in mind they’re made from medical grade materials. But, also keep in mind that they’re not like other brands, the SiO patches are actually reusable. Each patch should last for 15 uses if you store them properly- I’m sure they would last much longer if it weren’t for the adhesive wearing out- that’s how well made they are!
Overall, I would absolutely recommend the SiO wrinkles patches. You can get a pack that includes a neck, brow, and two eye/lip patches, or you can get them separately. Even if you don’t use them every night, they’re great to have on-hand for events and occasions. Check them out a siobeauty.com and enjoy smoother skin!
