Happy weekend, everyone! It’s already the middle of January!
I have oily/combination skin; and it can be a beast at times. So, I was really excited when Skyn Iceland sent me their new Clear the Way Kit! I live in Louisiana, and the warmer weather will be back very soon (thank goodness!), but this also means I can end up being a greasy mess!
The Clear the Way Kit contains Pure Pore Minimizer (full size!), the ANTIDOTE Cooling Daily Lotion, Glacial Cleansing Cloths, and Blemish Dots. These four products work together to keep skin cool, calm, and blemish-free.
Obviously, as soon as I saw what was included, I couldn’t wait to tear open the package! (I know, I know, I’m impatient…lol!)
Pure Pore Minimizer
This silicone-free treatment instantly reduces appearances of pores, and with continued use, can help shrink pores and refine texture. Natural active ingredients, along with the brand’s proprietary Icelandic Complex, penetrate pores, decongest, detoxify, and refine, resulting in smooth, clarified skin.

Skyn Iceland Pure Pore Minimizer has been absolutely amazing. I mean, I seriously cannot believe I haven’t tried it before! Man, I have been missing out! First off, it’s housed in a sanitary and convenient tube with a pump, so it’s easy to use, and there’s no exposure to light or air. To use, apply in the morning right before your makeup, and in the evening after cleansing but before moisturizing.
The texture is perfect. It’s silicone-free, so it doesn’t feel heavy, but I was a bit worried about the ability to minimize pores. Not to worry, my fears were alleviated- it really did appear to shrink them! The formula is very light, and seems to have a bit of a cooling effect, so it’s quite soothing. The amazing thing is, it can double as a primer during the day, so it’s also a time-saver! It did a great job at keeping greasiness at bay throughout the day. Definitely a winner!
the ANTIDOTE Cooling Daily Lotion
This lightweight daily moisturizer hydrates and helps cool stressed skin. It’s great for irritated, red, oily, and acne-prone skin.
This moisturizer is jam-packed with superstar ingredients. Yeast extract helps calm and revitalize, and, like in the Pure Pore Minimizer, white willow bark, a natural salicylic acid, helps sooth irritation while it prevents breakouts and congestion. Omegas 3, 6, and 9 help preserve the skin’s natural moisture. A derivative of mint helps improve microcirculation and cool the skin.
Meadowsweet extract controls oiliness and tightens the pores. Icelandic kelp helps fight inflammation and revitalize the skin. Aloe vera, shea butter, and jojoba help moisturize and soothe dry skin. Finally, Icelandic Complex rounds out the list.
the ANTIDOTE lotion in this kit is housed in a squeeze tube, but the full size is in a pump bottle. So, either way, it’s convenient to use, and protected from degradation by light and/or air exposure. I didn’t think it could get any better than the Pure Pore Minimizer. But, OMG, this stuff is equally amazing! My skin stayed hydrated, but it wasn’t overly heavy or the least bit greasy. The biggest deal, though, was the cooling sensation. It REALLY. DOES. COOL. It’s so awesome that I’ll probably end up getting the full size and slather it on all throughout the summer!
Glacial Cleansing Cloths
I’m going to start off by saying I need to hide these from Jerry.
Okay, now that that’s out of the way, here are the deets…
These foaming cloths require no water, so they’re great for soothing and purifying skin on the go. The cloths are infused with Icelandic glacial water along with natural extracts to sweep away oil, dirt, makeup, and other impurities, while refreshing the skin.
Like the lotion, the cloths contain white willow bark and Icelandic Complex, so already we’re off to a great start with the ingredients. Cucumber and cornflower extracts soothe, tone, and soften the skin. Coconut, oat, and amino acid based surfactants cleanse gently. Alpha bisabolol, derived from chamomile, helps soothe and calm the skin.
The thing I like about these is that unlike some other brands of cleansing cloths, they’re thick enough that they’re soft, and don‘t tear apart. They also cleanse effectively without making my skin feel stripped or tight. And the scent is very natural and fresh. It’s light enough that even if you’re sensitive to fragrance, you shouldn’t have any issues.
As for Jerry, he’s lazy and hates washing his face, so he tends to hoard cleansing cloths. I was hoping he wouldn’t like these, but unfortunately, he does. Hence the need to hide them…lol!
Blemish Dots
Skyn Iceland’s Blemish Dots are one of the best inventions ever. They’re like little stickers that you put on to spot treat blemishes. Unlike treatments that you dab on, these provide a continuous dose of purifying ingredients while you sleep.
Similar products on the market contain old-school ingredients, like benzoyl peroxide, that can dry out and irritate the skin. Not so with Skyn Iceland! In addition to the aforementioned Icelandic Complex and salicylic acid, these patches contain soothing ingredients in addition to actives.
Volcanic ash, a detoxifying mineral powder, helps absorb excess oil and impurities to clear out pores and curb shine. Phytosphingosine is a fatty acid that’s been proven to deliver moisture while regulating oil production. Canadian Willowherb contains high levels of anti-inflammatory, skin-protecting phytochemicals that inhibit the growth of bacteria. Bakuchiol is a gentle alternative to retinol that helps reduce blemish size and promote cell renewal.
The great thing about these magical little dots is that they’re not irritating. I forget they’re even there, so I can comfortably wear them all night long. Make sure you wash your face first thing, though, otherwise you might end up wearing them out in public…lol!
I don’t have a lot of problems with acne, but I do get an occasional pimple, usually once a month or so. I ended up with one on my chin, and it was dramatically reduced in size overnight, and gone in 3 days because of these!
