Retin-A: Day 1 (May 14, 2015)

I will be detailing my experience with using Retin-A (tretinoin) in this section of the site.  Please keep in mind that Retin-A is available by prescription only, and your results may not be the same as mine.  Only your doctor can help you decide if this will work for you.

For specific information about retinoids, please see my posting here.

Prior to this process, I had very minor photo-aging- some hyperpigmentation and fine lines, particularly “11’s” on my forehead.  I had been getting Botox, but my last injections were at the end of 2014.  I wanted to be free from Botox in order to better evaluate the effects of Retin-A.

At the beginning of 2014, I started using Philosophy’s Time in a Bottle, which contains retinyl palmitate, the most mild of the retinoids, for several months.  In April 2015, I began using Omorovicza Gold Night Drops, which contain retinol.  On May 10, I did a dermapen (microneedle pen) treatment because I knew I probably would not be able to do another one for quite some time.

In the evening, I washed my face using my Clarisonic with Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Cleanser, then exfoliated with Peter Thomas Roth Camu Camu Brightening Cleansing Powder.  After cleansing, I took close-up photos of various parts of my face.  I extracted the pores on my nose- as with the dermapen, I didn’t know when I would be able to do this again.

After waiting 25-30 minutes, I applied a pea-sized amount of 0.025% tretinoin cream. About 45 minutes later, I applied 3Lab The Cream.

I experienced a very , very, very slight sensitivity on my nose- not sure if it was from the tretinoin or solely because of pore extractions.
