Someone asked me the other day about moisturizers, and wanted to know what was a good all-around, all-purpose moisturizer. Several came to mind, but one of my favorites is the Perricone MD Face Finishing Moisturizer.
I hadn’t thought about this moisturizer in a while, since I test out LOTS of stuff, and I recently used up my last jar when testing the new Perricone MD Pre:Empt Skin Perfecting Serum (read my review here). But, I remembered I still had an unopened small jar in my travel case, so I figured it was the perfect excuse to write about it.
I first tried this when I read a review about how it smelled like roses. So, when I got it, not only did it smell like roses, but it was like a modern, updated rose scent. It reminded me of Grandma (believe me, that’s a GOOD thing) and one of the night creams she used to use. (Read my post here.)
Perricone MD Face Finishing Moisturizer has a luxurious, yet light, texture. It’s chock full of antioxidants to help protect and smooth the skin. While it’s not oil-free, I haven’t had any problems with it on my oily skin. It results in hydrated skin with a beautiful finish, and no greasiness. It’s no wonder models keep it in their handbags, and makeup artists keep it in their kits!

The negative is the jar packaging. Antioxidants degrade and become ineffective when exposed to light or air. Therefore, skincare products with antioxidants should be packaged to protect the ingredients from light or air (Kaur, Kapila & Agrawal, 2007).
The packaging isn’t really a huge deal for me, because with the full-sized jars, I just transfer the product into an opaque travel bottle. I don’t worry so much about the small jars since I use them up so quickly. I just make sure to store them in a dark cabinet, and use a spatula to dip out the cream. The glow is worth the trouble!
The great thing about Perricone MD Face Finishing Moisturizer is how versatile it is. It’s great for any skin type, wears well by itself or under makeup, and helps keep wrinkles and signs of aging at bay. It’s a fantastic all-around moisturizer!
