One thing that really seems to bother me is when people have preconceived notions or prejudices. Lately, I’ve been on a “kick” to dispel some of this type of thinking when it comes to makeup. Edgy colors can look demure, and pastels can look audacious. So, in an effort to “practice what I preach,” I decided to use some pastels on myself. Me…??? Pastels…?!?!?! Yep. This isn’t your typical Easter Sunday pastel look. Believe me. Besides, it’s almost fall, so we can’t be too “springy” now, can we?
For this project, I remembered something from my Palette Graveyard (don’t lie- you know you have one, too). I decided to resurrect my Make Up For Ever Technicolor Palette. I had forgotten how much fun this palette can be! You know that whole unicorn hair color thing? Yeah, well, Make Up For Ever was ahead of the curve on that.
After prepping my lids with Lorac Behind The Scenes Eye Primer, I used 126 all over my eyelids and brow bones. Then I used Jaune on the inner corners, 91 in the centers, and 72 on the outer corners. 116 went into the creases and extended slightly out a bit. I swept 00 onto my brow bones to highlight, and also dabbed some in the inner corners. I lined with Mac Technakohl liner in Graphblack, and finished with Estee Lauder’s Sumptuous Bold Volume Mascara.
Tip: While these colors are not “muddy” by any means, take care when blending. Over blending can make these look like toxic, radioactive mud. So, have a plan, don’t layer (unless you have time to remove it and start over), and blend carefully!
For my lips, I used Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Coven, with Lipstick Queen’s Let Them Eat Cake layered on top.
