Aang aang! Hello! Can you believe it’s September already?!?! Usually we’d be back home in Iowa for our town’s annual Rainsbarger Days celebration, but we were just there. So, we’re sadly staying here, in the heat and humidity that is Louisiana. I love the heat, though, so that’s why I’m not ready for fall!
But, the good news is… OMG, Covergirl’s new Trublend Undercover Concealer is Ahhhhh-MAZING! I’m going to go so far as to say it’s a superb dupe for Tarte’s already-cult-status Shape Tape. Yes. THAT good. At a fraction of the price! When Covergirl said they were sending their new release concealer, I was pretty excited. I know their new stuff has been awesome lately, so I had good expectations. But I just didn’t expect something on this level. Keep reading for the deets!
So, Covergirl not only sent their new concealer and a refill of my shade of foundation, they also sent a plethora of other fun goodies (I’ve created a look with them down below!), and when I opened the box, I noticed the packaging was in the same size tubes as the Tarte Shape Tape. I was hoping this meant a larger applicator, too- and it was! One of the things I like about the Shape Tape is the larger sized doe foot applicator, and Covergirl’s was just like it- so quick and easy to use!
The shade M700 Sand Beige from Covergirl is so close to the Tarte Medium Honey I’ve been using most. So I decided to use that first for best comparison. The Covergirl is a slightly thinner formula than the Tarte, and when I did swatches, there was more product on the Tarte due to the thickness, so there was more product in the swatch. As you can see, even with a thinner formula, the Covergirl is still full coverage!
Both concealers perform equally well- no creasing, oxidizing, etc. And they both last all day with primer. So, it seems it just comes down to preference. If you like a thicker, creamier formula, the Tarte is amazing, but a lot pricier. If you want a light, feather-weight concealer that still covers, then the Covergirl is the bomb!
You’ll have to excuse my messed up lipstick- I forgot to take a pic until after we ate, and had a different brand in my handbag to touch up, so I took the pic before using it…lol! Anywho, in this photo, I’m wearing the Covergirl Trublend Base Business Mattifying Primer, Trublend Matte Made Foundation in T10, Trublend Undercover Concealer in Sand Beige, Trublend Minerals Translucent Powder all over, Trublend Minerals Banana Powder on T-zone and under eyes, Trublend Super Stunner Hyper Glow in Gilded Glory, Easy Breezy Brow Gel in Medium, Exhibitionist Mascara, and Exhibitionist Lipstick in Succulent Cherry (over a darker liner).
The best part about all these fab products? They’re drugstore, so they’re reasonably priced! You can have fun with a fab looks without breaking the bank as badly as high end brands- but you still get quality and performance! More info at www.covergirl.com.
