Hey everyone, happy Tuesday, hope you’re all doing magnificently fantastic! Our area has still been recovering from a really severe storm that occurred during Memorial Day weekend.
The good thing about being stuck indoors is that it has given me time to try out new products. NeoStrata was kind enough to send me their Bionic Face Serum to test. No, this won’t turn me into the Bionic Woman (I know, sad, right?), but it WILL do pretty darn fabulous things for my skin!
First off, a bit about the brand… NeoStrata, along with the Exuviance brand, was founded by Drs. Van Scot and Yu, the original patent holders of the glycolic, or “lunchtime,” peel. I have hypersensitive skin, so I love that I can get the benefit of powerful, proven anti-aging ingredients, without irritation. Even the Exuviance Performance Peel AP25 works perfectly fine on me, with no adverse effects. So, an anti-aging serum with an effective PHA/AHA is a welcome addition to my regimen.
NeoStrata Bionic Face Serum is housed in a high-quality, well-made pump bottle that makes for convenient use. It’s also sanitary and protects the ingredients from degradation as a result of exposure to light and air, because there’s no dropper that gets repeatedly removed and replaced. So, the serum will remain effective for a much longer period of time.
Bionic Facial Serum is a transparent serum, with a light, natural scent. If you’re sensitive to fragrance, no worries, it’s actually fragrance-free. The smell is from the ingredients, and is similar to their other products, but it’s so light that it’s barely discernible. I just specifically “look” for scents for review purposes.
For photos, I tend to squirt out a LOT of product to show the consistency. Instead of rinsing off, I tend to rub it onto my hand just so as not to waste it. Believe me, this serum is VERY concentrated, and you don’t need much. I ended up with stickiness (it went away after a few minutes) when I had such a large amount on my hand…lol! But don’t fret, with a “normal” amount, it spreads easily and is readily absorbed, with no stickiness. The formula wears well alone, or along with other products, and I haven’t experienced any “balling.” In addition to being sensitive, my skin is also oily. Despite being extremely moisturizing, I haven’t had any greasiness, and it wears just fine under makeup.
NeoStrata Bionic Face Serum retails for $78, which is a decent value because it’s so moisturizing. I’ve found that I don’t actually need a separate moisturizer when I use this. It’s recommended that you use this in the morning, prior to applying moisturizer or sunscreen. For daytime, I usually wear an oil-free moisturizer since it’s so hot down here in the south. But, with such good moisturizing properties, I just apply sunscreen immediately after this serum with no need for other skincare products.
I don’t have many wrinkles (yet), thanks to using great skincare products with scientifically-proven ingredients, and I’d like to keep it that way. With NeoStrata Bionic Face Serum, I’ve noticed an immediate improvement in moisture level, my makeup goes on more easily, and my skin just looks plain healthy. I’m very pleased!
