Happy National Lipstick Day!!!! Personally, I would not be disappointed if this were an actual holiday- if we could all get the day off to celebrate the happiness and joy good lipstick has brought to us……… it would…… give us an excuse to get even more lipsticks…….lolololol!!!
So this year, I’m focusing on red lipsticks. I’ve done a couple posts on reds, because they’re my all-time fave. I may have periods when I’m into browns, nudes, or something else, but I always end up falling back on reds. Reds are classic, and they’re great for any event or occasion, and with so many different finishes and shades of red, they never get tiring!
I’ve been trying some new (to me) reds lately, so I promise, this won’t be a repeat of my other red lipstick posts…lol. (Although a few of these will be in my permanent collection and I’ll def repurchase!)
MAC Ruby Woo
I put off trying this iconic shade for years. I’m one of those people who doesn’t want to look the same as everyone else. With it being such a cult fave, I feared that if I went to an event, everyone would be wearing it at the same time. Then I started looking at pics, and depending on skin tone, it doesn’t look the same on everyone. It’s equally flattering to all skin tones, but even the shapes of our lips vary, as well as the other makeup we’d all be wearing.
Then when we were on a layover at the Dallas airport during one of our trips, Jerry saw a MAC store and talked me into getting the Ruby Woo. I’m SO glad I did- I can’t get enough of this, and it’s one my most frequently worn shades! Get it at NORDSTROM.com, with FREE shipping, no minimum, and FREE returns!

UOMA Badass Icon Matte Lipstick in Tina
I just reviewed this lipstick (read it here), and I’m putting it on a par with the MAC Ruby Woo
Although this is a new addition to my collection, this is something I KNOW I’ll be wearing a LOT. Probably as much as the MAC Ruby Woo. And I love that it doesn’t leave my lips dried out! Visit UomaBeauty.com and check it out!
Buxom Big & Sexy Bold Gel Lipstick in Wildfire
This is more of an orangey color, and I reach for this when I want to shake things up a bit and do more of a “fun” look. I often find myself wearing a lot of black, so this is great for adding a pop of color. This shade is also perfect for a beachy summer look, and with summer here, it’s a no-brainer.
The formula isn’t a super-matte, but it’s more of a satin matte, and the gel formula allows it to glide on much more easily than the super-mattes on the market. Get it at BuxomCosmetics.com
Pixi Beauty MatteLast Liquid Lip in Real Red
I don’t often wear super-matte formulas because of how drying they are. But, when I want something that truly LASTS, I grab Pixi’s liquid lipstick in Real Red. The amazing thing about this formula is that I don’t need to wear a liner with it- it doesn’t feather!
The color lasts, even through eating non-oily foods. I just need a slight touch-up if I’m eating something really greasy, which is rare. I’ve also found that this isn’t as drying as some of the other liquid lipsticks I’ve tried. I just exfoliate and moisturize before and after, and I’m good to go. Get it at PixiBeauty.com.

CoverGirl Exhibitionist Lipstick in Hot
This is a classic red, in a cream formula, so it’s great when I want something more moisturizing. Despite being a cream, it packs a heavy punch when it comes to pigmentation. It’s buildable, but you can get away with just one coat, but I don’t know why you’d want to since it’s so comfortable to wear.
I wear this with the Exhibitionist Lip Liner in Cherry Red, and works perfectly. This is a great shade and formula if you want a classic, “Old Hollywood” look. It’s perfect for a night out on the town! Check out the shades at CoverGirl.com.
Au Naturale Lipstick in Cha Cha
Last, but FAR from being least, is the Au Naturale lipstick in “Cha Cha.” This is an all-natural formula, nothing bad in it, you could probably eat this stuff if you really wanted to! It also has a very pleasant smell, but not fake, as there’s nothing synthetic here. When I need something less bold, this is a winner. If you like bright colors, but want to tone it down for work or day time, you NEED this.
The color of this is more muted than the others, so it goes on like a soft orangey red. It ends up looking matte, but strangely enough, not really any dryness. It’s really well-formulated, and your lips will be healthier after wearing than before. It’s good-weird, I don’t know how they do it!
