I have long, thick, colored hair that can be difficult to care for. So, I choose my hair care products very carefully, only using products from the salon. Except for Hask. I had seen the little packets of deep conditioner all over the place, so I completely believe them when they say that a Deep Conditioner or Shine Oil is purchased every five seconds!

The salon I go to is EXTREMELY selective in the products they carry, so when I saw a box of Hask Deep Conditioner packets on the counter there, I knew it had to be good stuff. Both Jerry and I tried the Monoi and Keratin conditioners, and have ended up buying the full size tube of the Monoi Deep Conditioner several times. So, when I got the opportunity to try the Kalahari Melon Oil line for colored hair, I was super excited!

The Kalahari melon, found in the African desert, thrives by retaining moisture even in the driest conditions. As a hair care ingredient, it helps to prevent moisture loss and fading, leaving your hair color vibrant and healthy (Hask, 2016).

Not only does this line contain Kalahari melon oil, but it also has Color Shield Complex with cranberry and sunflower oils. According to Hask, this complex helps maintain long-lasting vibrant color. The shampoo delicately cleanses, while the conditioner softens and detangles. The Deep Conditioner works even harder to counteract dryness and fading; and the Shine Treatment provides a radiant glow without greasiness (Hask, 2016).

On top of the impressive ingredients, it’s also important to know what’s not in the Hask Kalahari Melon Oil line. All products are free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, gluten, drying alcohol, and artificial colors (Hask, 2016). So, you can be assured you’re only putting the good stuff on your hair, without anything nasty!

Hask Kalahari Shampoo

So, how did the Hask Kalahari Melon Oil line perform? Well, let’s just say the brand did not disappoint! Jerry and I were both very happy with each of the products. Jerry is “old school” and it’s very important to him that his shampoo produce lots of lather, or he doesn’t like it. Despite being sulfate-free, he thought it lathered extremely well. We both thought our hair felt very clean, but not stripped of moisture.

The conditioner did a great job of making our hair softer. It provided moisture without being too heavy or leaving any residue. It rinsed cleanly, and our hair was shiny and vibrant.

Hask kalahari Deep Conditioner

The deep conditioner was basically a more powerful version of the regular conditioner. Although I use a deep conditioner at least once a week, I often feel like they are a bit too heavy, and my hair doesn’t feel the way I really like until I wash again. Not so with Hask- it rinsed very well, and my hair was softer and even more moisturized, but no heaviness. Perfect!

As for the Shine Oil Treatment, again, I’m often left with residue of some sort when I use this type of product. I tried this on both wet and dry hair, and noticed no residue or greasiness. The important thing is not to overdo it, it’s very concentrated. I put a few drops into my hand, and rubbed my hands together, then distributed the oil through my hair avoiding the roots. The only negative is that I wish there was a pump or spout, as the vial can be kind of messy to use. But, for the price, this is not a deal breaker, so don’t let it deter you from trying it!

The best part about the Hask Kalahari Melon Oil line? It’s easy on your wallet, the products retail for $2.99 to $5.99, and everything smells SO good. I swear, I didn’t want to get out of the shower, this stuff smelled so amazing! After my hair was dry, it still smelled very fresh, but not overly so- therefore it didn’t interfere with my perfume, lotion, etc. Overall, the Hask Kalahari Melon Oil line is absolutely superb, especially for the price!
