July 2016 Birchbox: Meh…

So, I have been disappointed with Birchbox for quite some time now.  In March, they REALLY screwed up, and lied (see this post).  In April, they screwed up again (see this post).  In May and June, they improved somewhat, then dropped a bomb with the announcement of the change to the points system.  I could understand a small change, many businesses have to do that in order to thrive.  But there were multiple changes, DRASTIC changes (see this post).

So, I’ve been waiting to see if the July box would be worth the $10 price tag.  If not, then I decided I would cancel my subscription.   So, what did my July box contain?

July2016Birchbox2

-Kiehl’s Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate–  I’ve really liked all the Kiehl’s products I’ve tried, so I’m looking forward to trying this, especially since it’s a serum and shouldn’t be too heavy for my oily skin.

-Marcelle 3-in-1 Micellar Solution– I’ve never been “lazy” with cleansing, I ALWAYS do at least a double, sometimes triple, cleanser EVERY.  SINGLE.  NIGHT.  But, ever since I started blogging and doing videos, I’ve found these products come in really handy to do makeup changes throughout the day, so I’m looking forward to trying this.

-MD SolarSciences Daily Anti-Aging Moisturizer SPF 30–  I like this brand, and I like anti-aging products, and I like sunscreens.  So, I think I’ll like trying this out!

-Smashbox X-Rated Mascara–  I have several of these already from subscription boxes.  I don’t love it, it doesn’t do what it claims to do.  But, it works fine for when I’m wearing false lashes.

-L’Artisan Parfumeur Nuit de Tubereuse–  I can’t say enough how much I HATE getting fragrance samples in subscription boxes!  I feel like I’m getting cheated out of an item since you can go into any cosmetic store or department store and get these for free any time.  That being said, I DO love this brand, and this is a very nice scent.  It just should’ve been included as an extra sixth item.

Overall, the best item in this box was the micellar water.  The MD SolarSciences and Kiehl’s were nice items, but SO damn tiny!

Stay tuned and keep checking back, I’ll be letting you know if I decide to cancel, and why or why not!  In the meantime, if you wish to subscribe to Birchbox, click here.  It’s $10 a month, shipping is free, and you can cancel any time.
