Finally, a Fun Day Out After the Flooding: Missed Our Beauty Shopping & Hooters!

We’ve been suffering from a serious case of cabin fever. With so much going on, we haven’t really had a chance to get out of town lately. We were going to head out last weekend, but we thought we’d get to see Jerry’s son when he was passing through the area, so we stayed home. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. (But since we’re the only ones who didn’t get to see or tell him and his family “good-bye,” we’ve asserted ourselves as being priority over all other people next time they come through…lol 😉 )

Flood 1

Well anywho, the flooding has been atrocious down here (you can read my flood posts here and here). We were going to spend Saturday away, but many of the roads, including portions of the interstate, were still closed and under water. Finally, they opened one lane of the interstate on Sunday, yippee!!!!

Flood 2

On our way out of town, we noticed there was still a good bit of flood water. If we didn’t know any better, we probably would have thought these areas were lakes…lol! Fortunately, the roads could at least be used.

Flood 3

Our first stop in Shreveport was a follow-up visit to Grub Burger Bar. We’ve been eating really clean, so this was going to be a cheat day- what better place to cheat than the best burger joint? (You can read more about our experience here.)

Grub 3

We were planning on hitting up all of our regular stops, but we forgot that since it was Sunday, everything closes early. Booooo!!!! So, we missed out on our fave peeps at Sephora and Ulta in Shreveport, and Dior and Estee Lauder at St. Vincent, along with a few other stops.

We DID make it to Sephora in Bossier so we could see Grace and Brendan, and check out the new Tarte Rainforest of the Sea collection (read about it here). We also made it to Ulta in Bossier, and got to see Dharmesh and LeMecia, and I got a new Smashbox lipstick (review coming soon!).

And… we’ve REALLY been missing our fave food- Hooters hot wings (see more here)!  So, we headed over to the Boardwalk and, although there were a LOT of new girls, we caught Carrie on her way out, and got to see Beth and Amber.

Beth

Beth was bartending, and we noticed her absolutely AWESOME eye makeup- she had on glitter eyeliner that was really eye-catching and looked so super-duper that during a slow moment, we got her to tell us about it!

We had a fantastic time, and hope to make it back next weekend to catch up with the people we missed!!!  Keeping our fingers crossed the weather will be favorable! 🙂
