Hey beautiful people! It’s hard to believe we’re well into November now, time just flies so fast!
If you’re new to Beaux Beauty, welcome, welcome, welcome! If you’re a veteran reader, then you already know Exuviance is one of my favorite scientifically-proven brands of skincare. I know I can trust their products, and am confident that they use the highest quality active ingredients in all their products.
Knowing that Exuviance yields results, without fail, I was so pleased to have the opportunity to try the brand’s Performance Peel AP25, and tell you guys all about it! So, what is this peel, you ask?
As you may or may not already know, Exuviance was founded by Drs. Van Scot and Yu. These renowned skincare gurus are the original creators and patent-holders of the glycolic peel, or “lunchtime peel.” Exuviance Performance Peel AP25 is formulated with a 25% blend of Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) and Polyhydroxy Acids (PHAs).
Performance Peel AP25 contains glycolic acid, mandelic acid, and gluconolactone. These ingredients not only help exfoliate dull, dead surface skin, but also enhance cell renewal to reveal healthier, fresher looking skin. Who doesn’t want that?
This peel can be used up to twice a week, and with regular use, it has been proven to smooth texture and refine pore size, visibly reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, improve brightness and clarity, even out skin tone, provide smoothness and suppleness to the skin, as well as an all-over healthy glow. Count me in!
Exuviance Performance Peel AP25 is a two-step peel. To use, first cleanse your face, then apply a Step 1 Activator Pad all over the face, except for the eye area, lips, and other sensitive areas. Keep an eye on the skin and watch for discomfort, redness, stinging, itching, burning, tightness, peeling, or tingling. After 10 minutes (or sooner if you experience any of the aforementioned effects), apply a Step 2 Neutralizer Pad to the entire face, then rinse thoroughly with water.
One of the things I really like about Exuviance Performance Peel AP25 is that the pads are all individually packaged. This means that the ingredients aren’t degraded by being repeatedly exposed to air and light, as with many other peel pads that are housed in a jar. The individual packets also make the product convenient for travel, or stashing in my makeup bag.
If the idea of a chemical peel is a bit intimidating to you, the Exuviance AP25 is a great option. I regularly get 70% glycolic peels, and as a beauty blogger, I’m constantly testing out other peels as well. Over-the-counter peels are buffered, so the ingredients become inactive after a period of time. But with the Exuviance AP25, there is a separate neutralizer included, so if you experience any discomfort, you can take care of it immediately.
I use tretinoin, so my skin is overly sensitive, and I experienced no problems with this peel. I left it on the entire time, and never felt any burning, just a slight tingle toward the end. After neutralizing, I didn’t have any redness. Again, though, I’ve done a LOT of peels, so I know what to look for, and this peel did its job. My skin was left soft and smooth, without any irritation.
Just an FYI, part of the reason I had no irritation is because my skin is accustomed to AHAs. If you’re not used to glycolic acid, make sure to do a test spot, and don’t leave it on very long. Glycolic acid is one of those ingredients that your skin has to adjust to, so take it easy at first. Also, you must always wear sunscreen, because your skin will be more sensitive to UV light. But, Exuviance Performance Peel AP25 is perhaps on the most effective peels I’ve found that’s suitable for just about anyone. Since it’s a twice-per-week product, and includes the less-irritating PHA gluconolactone, you get results with less irritation.
If you want smooth, glowing skin with less irritation, Exuviance Performance Peel AP25 is definitely worth checking out. It retails for $77 for 12 peels, so it’s a much better value than going to a spa. Check it out at Exuviance.com
