Happy February! We just got back from a trip to New Orleans, and it’s good to get back into our normal routine. Actually hoping for NO MORE TRAVEL for a while so we can get caught back up…lol.
So, anywho, one of my fave skincare brands, Elemis, sent the cutest package- the box looked like a meal kit, but instead contained the brand’s new Superfood products in little brown bags with “ingredient” stickers. So adorable! Whoever does their marketing deserves some sort of bonus for coming up with this!
The new products, part of the Superfood line (read my review here), include Kefir Tea Mist, Black Currant Jelly Exfoliator, Berry Boost Mask, and Vital Veggie Mask. Like the original Superfood line-up, these products combine the power of concentrated superfoods with the expertise and science behind all Elemis formulas. With such “yummy” formulations, I couldn’t wait to try all these out!
Superfood Kefir Tea Mist
This 4-in-1 treatment mist can tone, prime, set makeup, and provide a quick, on-the-go splash of hydration. Kefir ferment derived from soy uses pre-biotic technology to brighten and tone the skin. Antioxidant-rich organic rooibos tea extracts helps boost radiance, and coconut water, which contains electrolytes and minerals, helps hydrate for a dewy fresh look (Elemis, n.d.).
The Superfood Kefir Tea Mist is housed in a sleek, green spray bottle. The mist is very fine, so you don’t end up with big globs of liquid clumsily sprayed randomly on your face. It has a light, pleasant, natural herbal scent that’s refreshing and uplifting, but relaxing at the same time. Does that make sense?
Superfood Black Currant Jelly Exfoliator
This gentle facial scrub is packed with antioxidant-rich fruit extracts, black tea extract, and glycerin, which leave the complexion softer, smoother, and hydrated. Sustainably-sourced black currant fruit pulp exfoliates for a smooth, radiant complexion. Bilberry extract is naturally high in vitamins and minerals, and helps lock in moisture. The unique jelly-like texture turns into a milky “smoothie” and feels really lux (Elemis, n.d.).
I have sensitive, acne-prone skin, and manual exfoliants tend to cause irritation and inflammation. So, as always with this type of product, I was a bit nervous about trying the Superfood Black Currant Jelly Exfoliator. But, after rubbing it between my fingers, I felt like the fruit pulp was gentle enough that it wouldn’t cause a ton of irritation. I was glad I decided to try it, because it did not disappoint! My skin was left clean and smooth without feeling stripped of moisture. The instructions say this can be used daily, but I’ll likely play it safe and use it once per week.
Superfood Berry Boost Mask
This purifying Berry Boost Mask is made with Brazilian purple clay and Superberry Complex that’s rich in omegas. It’s great for balancing the t-zone and helping to mattify the skin. The clay also absorbs excess oil and minimizes the appearance of pores. Known for its antioxidant properties, black tea extract helps promote a clear complexion. Black currant seed oil and Nordic bilberry extract helps to balance and hydrate the skin (Elemis, n.d.).
This is perhaps my favorite of the new products. It smooths on very easily, and is quite soothing. I had this on for about 30 minutes instead of the recommended 10. Yet, it never got annoying or dried up and started tugging my skin- it was comfortable enough that I lost track of time when I was using it…lol. When I rinsed it off, my skin was soft, smooth, and the oiliness was gone, without dryness. It was seriously like magic!
Superfood Vital Veggie Mask
The Vital Veggie Mask helps nourish, brighten, and smooth. Avocado and chia seed oils, rich in omega fatty acids, help lock in hydration. Passionfruit acids are naturally rich in Vitamin C, and help brighten the skin while gently exfoliating. Wheatgrass extract, rich in chlorophyll, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, and vitamins leave skin smooth and healthy-looking (Elemis, n.d.).
This mask was just as soothing as the Berry Boost. Again, super-comfortable, and not annoying, easily left on for a longer period of time. It’s really hydrating, and leaves my skin smooth and plumped, an oh-so-soft! I’m really looking forward to multi-masking, and using the exfoliant first, then the Berry Boost on my t-zone, and the Vital Veggie on the rest of my face. I think this will be a great way to maximize my results!
I’m so excited about the new additions to the Elemis Superfood line- not only are they absolutely amazing and make my skin feel pampered, but they’re some of the most reasonably priced products from the brand. Check ’em out at elemis.com.!
