TGIF!!!!!
Have you seen our review of the Elemis Gentle Foaming Facial Wash (read about here) and Pro-Collagen Marine Cream (find it here)? Well, guess what? I’ve got another product from the brand to tell you guys about!
As a blogger, I often wear a LOT of makeup, especially when trying new things. Sometimes, I even have to change it out several times in a day for different looks, and all the scrubbing can wreak havoc on my face. And now that I’m using a stronger retinoid, my face is already irritated on its own…lol!
So, I’ve heard wondrous things about the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm

Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm is purported to dissolve makeup, grime, and pollutants leaving skin intensely cleansed, nourished and renewed, resulting in a glowing complexion. The formula contains a plethora of nourishing ingredients, such as mimosa and rose waxes, UK starflower oil, UK elderberry seed oil, UK Optimega oil, coconut, shea, sweet almond oil, padina pavonica, and Vitamin E (Elemis, 2017).
The ingredient list is truly impressive, and with so many high-quality oils, I had very high expectations of this product, especially for removing makeup. I was looking for something that would “eat” through the layers, yet at the same time, I wanted something gentle that wouldn’t irritate or “strip” my skin. You have NO idea how hard it was to take photos of this before using it- I was very impatient!
Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm is housed in a sleek jar. I know, you’re probably going to question me on the jar, right? Well, this is a cleanser, it’s not meant to remain on the skin, and it’s not a product that relies on antioxidant stability for performance. So, the jar is actually perfectly fine, and it’s convenient to use! (Did I mention it looks really lux…?)
First off, the balm smells like absolute Heaven when you first open the jar. It’s a very natural, herbal scent, though, so no worries if you don’t like scented skincare products. The consistency is really rich, but it actually seems to “melt” upon contact- I dipped a small amount out, rubbed it between my fingers, then onto my dry face- and it quickly turned into an oil texture that was super easy to spread.
OMG, the balm immediately started cutting right through all my makeup. My makeup seemed to almost “disappear,” it was incredible. The cleanser is very soothing, an the whole process was effortless. Elemis includes a super-duper soft cloth, so after massaging my face, I just wiped it all away, makeup included.
My skin was clean, soft, and smooth, without being stripped of moisture. I always do at least a double cleanse (sometimes triple…lol), so I followed up with the Elemis Gentle Foaming Facial Wash
The only negative is that the jar may seem a bit pricey at $64, but it’s actually a good value. A little big will go a LONG way- the amount I show in the photo is about three times the amount I actually need, I just wanted to make sure to get a good photo of the balm. Plus, they include the cloth, too. You can also get a travel sized jar for around $14 from TimetoSpa if you’d like to try it out.
Overall, I’m super pleased- the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm did wonders for cleaning my face, and it truly made a boring task feel like a luxurious spa experience! Click the links below or head over to Elemis.com
