Hello, all you fabulous wonderful people out there! (Yes, this means YOU!)
If you follow us on Instagram or if you saw this post, then you know I got a fab package in the mail from Charlotte Tilbury. One of the items in it was the Magic Foundation (see my review here), and there was this Light Wonder foundation, too. (If you’d like to know what else was in it, check out our Instagram!)
Since I had a breakout, I decided to try the Magic Foundation first, and now for the Light Wonder! Could this possibly be as marvelous?
Charlotte’s Light Wonder foundation features ingredients that are purported to help minimize pores, decrease wrinkles, hydrate, illuminate, and smooth for breathable, seamless, beautiful skin (Charlotte Tilbury, n.d.). Like the Magic Foundation, Light Wonder doesn’t just provide coverage, it’s actually a skincare product, too, so it contains some great ingredients.
Active ingredients help smooth and fight uneven skin tone, as well as help reduce the appearance of wrinkles. A botanical retinol alternative stimulates collagen production to help renew the epidermis, thereby creating a perfect makeup base and delaying wrinkles. Meanwhile, pseudo-ceramides hydrate the skin for up to 18 hours. The SPF 15 helps protect skin from damaging UV rays (Charlotte Tilbury, n.d.).

Light Wonder is ideal for those with dry, normal, and combo skin types who want a light coverage, yet buildable foundation (Charlotte Tilbury, n.d.). The thing I like about these lighter formulas is first off, they’re perfect for when I don’t want to wear a full face of makeup, but still want to look at least a little bit polished and presentable.
Secondly, I had horrific acne as an adolescent and young adult, so I’m really enjoying clearer skin these days and love to show it off…lol! That may seem shallow, but it was really traumatic, so it’s kind of a self-healing thing to enjoy my skin as much as possible now.
So anyway, Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder is housed in a sleek, gorgeous rectangular squeeze tube with a lux rose gold-tone cap. This is really pretty fancy-schmancy for a squeeze tube- one I’m proud to display on my counter!
The foundation was super easy to apply and blend, and so light weight- truly a light coverage formula. There were a few areas I wanted a little extra cover, so I added more, and it was easily buildable, but still light weight. I was just getting over a breakout, so I did need to dab on a bit of concealer in those areas. But it really felt like I didn’t have any makeup on at all.
I love that it contains SPF, but wish it were a bit higher than 15, as in the gold-standard of 30. But, that’s definitely not a deal-breaker, I have plenty of other SPF skincare products that I can layer with it, and an SPF of 15 is better than none, which is what most lightweight foundations have.
I put primer (REN Perfect Canvas Silicone Free Skin Finishing Serum) on one side of my face, none on the other side. The Light Wonder foundation didn’t last as long as Charlotte’s Magic Foundation. I started noticing a tiny bit of fading at about five hours on the side without primer, and right at seven hours on the side with primer. I should note, though, that I had been very active, and even did a light workout. So, while it didn’t stay on as long as the full coverage Magic, it DID outlast other light coverage foundations I’ve tried.
The best part about this is how natural it felt and looked. It really felt like I wasn’t wearing makeup, and I really like the anti-aging benefits. It’s like I’m treating my face with active skincare ingredients, so in addition to the beautiful glowing finish, my complexion will benefit even more in the long-term.
