Happy Friday! I can’t believe it’s December already! The chillier weather is here, and the good thing about Louisiana is that it’s not as bad as back home in Iowa- I don’t like the snow!
Speaking of snow, the only white powdery stuff I’ve been needing lately is some dry shampoo. Well, not necessarily me, but Jerry. He only washes his hair twice a week, and uses dry shampoo the rest of the time. I swear, he goes through a can a week!
Well, a while back, Jerry was running low on dry shampoo, so he nabbed the Bumble and bumble Pret-a-Powder out of one of my subscription boxes. He was a bit skeptical since it wasn’t a spray, but he ended up really liking it. There was no powder all over the bathroom choking him up, since it was not a spray, he could breath easily when using it. It also lasted a LOT longer than sprays.

Anyway, Jerry started running low on the Pret-a-Powder, so I got online to order more. Then I saw that Captain Blankenship has a non-spray dry shampoo, too, and the reviews were about the same as the Bumble and bumble. Since we’d never tried it before, I was pleased that there was a smaller size, just like with the Bumble and bumble.
I also noticed that the small size Bumble and Bumble is $12.00 for 0.3 oz., while the small size Captain Blankenship is $14.00 for 2.4 oz. In other words, at those prices, the rate per one whole ounce of Bumble and bumble is $40.00, with the Captain Blankenship being just $5.83. Wow. At such a low price in comparison, I just had to order the Captain Blankenship.
When it came in, I adored the packaging- it’s in a salt shaker! Some of the reviewers didn’t like the way the salt shaker looks, since it looks like, well, a salt shaker..lol. But, it’s called “Mermaid Dry Shampoo,” and it makes me think of sea salt, so I think it’s perfect.
The powder was super easy to use, and the shaker worked perfectly. It has a very mild rose scent, but for those of you who are sensitive, it’s not strong at all, and it dissipates pretty quickly. It absorbed the excess oil very well, and I was left with clean, fresh, bouncy hair. By the way, I have dark hair, and I didn’t notice any white residue after brushing my hair.
Overall, this is a really great dry shampoo. I don’t know if Jerry will be getting it, because I’m going to keep it for myself until he notices he doesn’t have any…lol! You can get it at captainblankenship.com or Sephora.
