Kalhwa7alap- hi everyone! Hope you’re all staying safe and healthy! It’s been humid and HOT here, and they just had some horrific storms back home. There is quite a bit of damage to things that can be replaced, but thankfully everyone I know is okay.
I’ve been meaning to post about Beachwaver’s Braid Balm for quite some time. I’ve been swamped with work and family stuff lately, but things could always be a lot worse. I’m fortunate to be able to work from home, and that’s not something everyone is able to do. I keep trying to remind myself of positives to help maintain perspective.
Anywho, on to the Braid Balm! This is a pre-braid prep with the brand’s HIx Hydro Ionic Alpha Bond Multiplier. The foam formula is applied to the hair prior to braiding, and not only strengthens and repairs hair with each use, but also results in smooth, frizz-free braids. The extra bonus comes when you undo your braids- gorgeous waves!
I’m going to be honest- I CANNOT BRAID FOR $%*#. I can do a simple braid if my hair is in a ponytail, but any type of French braid or something like that… let’s just say rocket science would be easier for me. I even tried to get Jerry to help me, and no such luck. I still wanted to use this to create waves, though, so I tried some semblance of a French braid (no pics, it was THAT bad…lol). It DID actually keep flyaways at bay, and kept the lame-excuse-for-braids frizz-free. It also helped keep the little hairs around my face smoothed down.
For me, though, the real Beachwaver magic happened AFTER the braids. I did two horrific French braids, or attempted to anyway, right after showering. I towel dried my hair, applied the Braid Balm, “braided” my hair, then slept with the so-called braids. When I woke up in the morning and took out the braids, then ran my fingers through my hair, I was SO excited at the results! The waves that resulted “loosened” up after about half an hour, then stayed that way the rest of the day. My hair did not feel like straw like it does when I’ve tried a similar process with other products. Instead, I got soft, smooth waves, without damaging my hair.
Even if you have short hair or don’t wear braids, this stuff is fantastic for smoothing hair down and controlling flyaways. Now, if only I can find time to practice braiding, I can have two days of good hair, one with awesome braids, then the next day with fabulous waves!
