$352.01 Worth of Makeup for just $48.00 at Sephora, NO CATCH!!

Sephora haul 3

Yes, you read that right! We got $352.01 of makeup and skincare products at Sephora Inside JCPenney for just $48.00! Guess what, some of that stuff was FREE. Yes, FREE.  This is not like those offers you see on TV, where there is a commitment contract.  There is NO catch- you don’t have to give a credit card number, no autoship agreements, and you don’t have to sell anything or host any type of party. Just walk in and get it!

Just FYI, I am NOT affiliated with Sephora in any way, shape, or form.  This blog is not a Sephora affiliate, either.  We just really happen to love the store, as we have always received stellar service and such great deals there.

The inspiration for this post has been “Sephora hacks” I have read about recently on social media, as well as the many people I have heard who say they have never stepped foot into a Sephora (!!!!) because they thought it would be too expensive. Well, I’m here to let everyone know, that’s just not true!

I got the following on Sunday, January 10, all for just $48.00 ($52.28 with sales tax):

-2 Kat Von D lipsticks in Underage Red;

-2 full size Urban Decay eyeshadows in Midnight Cowboy Rides Again;

-2 full size Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliners;

-2 Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes;

-2 Too Faced Chocolate Soleil bronzers;

-2 Benefit They’re Real! mascaras;

-2 Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Waters;

-3 Sephora gel cheek colors;

-2 Dr. Brandt Needles No More Instant Wrinkle Relaxing Cream;

-2 Dr. Brandt 3-D Filler Mask;

-2 Dr. Brandt Pores No More Microdermabrasion;

-2 Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Dermabrasion;

-1 Philosophy Renewed Hope in a Jar Moisturizer;

-1 Boscia Tsubaki Oil Infused Cleansing Powder;

-2 Sephora makeup bags;

-3 fragrance samples; and

-1 Sephora Instant Moisturizer sample.

Sephora is known for having a wide variety of value kits- they even have kits like we got with mixed brands. This is awesome because you get the best of each brand, and aren’t limited to products from just one company. (They do have the standard sets available from each brand, though.)

We got two 7-piece kits, EACH with $126.00 worth of products for just $19.00 each. They were normally $39.00 each, which is still a great deal, but they were on sale for half price. The amazing thing is that the kits contain a full-size Stila eyeliner that has a retail value of $22.00, so that alone is worth the $19.00 kit. Additionally, there was also a full-sized Urban Decay eyeshadow, with a retail value of $19.00! So, we paid $19.00 for a 7-piece kit, where just two items were regularly $41.00!

We also got two 4-piece Dr. Brandt kits for FREE. These were each 500 Beauty Insider points. Joining the Beauty Insider program is free, and there is no obligation. All you have to do is give them an email address. Also, if you give them your birthdate, you get a FREE birthday gift each year. This year, you get to pick between two sets, a 2-piece Marc Jacobs makeup set, or a 2-piece Fresh skincare set. There is NO obligation to get the gift- you don’t have to make a purchase or anything. Just walk into the store and get it. That’s it.

Also, when you join the Beauty Insider program, you get random emails and flyers with coupons for free product, yet again, with NO obligation. That’s how I got the Philosophy Renewed Hope in a Jar Moisturizer. I got a coupon with a barcode, and it was FREE, no purchase necessary. These freebie coupons come about once monthly.

The most important thing to do when you step into Sephora is LISTEN to the Beauty Advisor. On Sunday, we were assisted by several, including Tasha, Hylisha, Ashley, and Cassie at the Shreveport and Bossier City stores (many thanks to all of you!). Don’t be afraid of sales pitches, they are actually there to HELP you. They are professionally trained- yes, they get sent to makeup school! They also have Beauty Educators visit the stores monthly to make sure they are up to date on the latest trends and techniques. (Did I mention you can walk in at any time and get a FREE mini makeover?)

Beauty Advisors at Sephora are also trained to show you products from several different brands that would be suitable, so they are not going to try to “push” you into any one thing. So, LISTEN to them when they ask if you’ve heard of their Beauty Insider program- this is NOT a sales pitch- this is how you will get FREE stuff.

So, how did I arrive at the $352.01 figure? Well, the two kits we paid for had the prices already on them, with an additional sale sticker on the shelf. So, those had a $126.00 value for $39.00, but were on sale for just $19.00. For the other products, I used the retail values and re-calculated based on size (see below*).

Guess what? The freebies don’t stop there! In addition to point rewards, they also give out TOAs or gifts with purchase. When the Naked on the Run palette was released, you also got a FREE FULL SIZE Urban Decay BB Cream. Afraid you won’t like a product?  No worries, their return policy is very customer-friendly; even if you’ve used the item, you can get a full refund.  So, please, don’t be afraid to wander into a Sephora, and don’t ignore the Beauty Advisors, they’ll be more than happy to let you in on the deals!
