If you’ve been keeping up with this website, especially skincare-related posts like the Peter Thomas Roth Irish Moor Mud Mask (review found here), you likely know that your skin can get worse before it gets better. Any time you begin a routine that is actually good for your skin, impurities are purged out to the surface.
I haven’t yet done a post solely dedicated to this cleansing process. A reader, Kaity, asked about breaking out in her comment about the Bionova Bioactive Facial Mask for Oily Skin, and I just received correspondence from Bionova, so it seemed like the perfect time to post!
Instead of merely beautifying the skin, Bionova seeks to treat the skin, which in turn results in healthy skin. Healthy skin is beautiful skin! Aside from their scientifically-researched and developed formulas, perhaps the best part about Bionova is their customer service and support- they do a fantastic job of describing the cleansing process the skin goes through:
“Do not get alarmed when the cleansing process kicks in. It might be
moderate or aggressive, long or very brief. The reason it does not
start right away is that your skin cells may not be not strong enough
yet. When they are replenished with their same bioactive substances,
they get strong enough to start pushing out all impurities sitting
in between cells and interfering with the normal metabolism. Makes
sense? The duration and intensity depends on your skin history of brands
used in the past and the skin ability to heal” (Bionova, 2015).
While the cleansing phase is certainly no fun, it’s a sign that your skin is doing its job. While I wouldn’t start a new regimen right before a big event, once this stage is over, the results are usually well worth the trouble. So, don’t let the “uglies” discourage you!
