Tatcha Gold Camellia Beauty Oil

I really wanted to dislike this product at first because I thought the gold flakes were just a gimmick. Yes, that’s right, real 24 karat gold flakes floating around in this bottle!

Tatcha promises to nourish skin and seal in moisture with camellia oil and squalane; while licorice root extract will calm the skin, and the gold will add a glow. Since I’ve been saving the gold flakes, I did not notice any “glow” from them, but I really liked this oil. I mean REALLY liked it.

After doing some research, gold does have a place in skincare.  It has anti-pathogenic properties, and some believe it can even help stimulate collagen.  Now, when I get to the end of the bottle, I will probably use those gold flakes and test out the “glow factor.”  And let’s face it- this stuff evokes a feeling of pure luxury!  What girl doesn’t deserve to spoil herself?

The addition of squalane made this oil very light, not too heavy. When I first applied the oil, it seemed to just sit on top of my skin, but it did absorb within minutes. It does have a green tea fragrance, but it is very light and quite pleasantly relaxing. I use this at night, and in the morning, my skin is very soft and smooth. While it can be used on the face, body, and hair, I have not tried it on my hair- not too sure about squalane on hair.   Despite my original reservations about the gold, I am hooked, and I am likely to repurchase this as this has become one of my favorite face oils.

Tatcha Gold Camellia Beauty Oil retails for $95.00 for 1.01 oz. or $33.00 for 0.34 oz.
