Well, we finally got out of the house and out of town this past Sunday!  The flooding was finally starting to recede, and one lane on the interstate was open, so we got the heck out!

Of course, we HAD to go to Sephora, and ran into Brendan and Grace at the Bossier City store- SO good to finally get to see them again!  They had just gotten in the new Rainforest of the Sea collection from Tarte, and let me just say- it’s all absolutely AMAZING!

I REALLY wanted the Skin Twinkle Lighting Palette, but I couldn’t justify buying even MORE highlighters.  Maybe when there’s a sale… well, heck, I’ll probably end up giving in and just getting it at some point…lol.  Anywho, the whole collection is just great, they did an awesome job with the packaging, even Jerry noticed and  thought it was very aesthetically pleasing.

I’ve been into trying foundations lately, so I decided to go for the Water Foundation in Medium Neutral.  The 12-hour formula is purported to boost hydration with 20% water.  It also has an SPF of 15, and Tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea Complex helps restore, brighten, and protect skin against free radicals.

The bottle has a dropper, so you can dispense just the right amount, no messy pouring.  The consistency is very thin, yet it provides buildable coverage, so those who prefer full coverage will be just as happy as those who like lighter coverage.

I don’t normally like full coverage formulas because it feels like I’m wearing a mask, but this didn’t.  It was very light weight, I couldn’t even tell I was wearing it.  It went on easily and blended with no problems.  It lasted all day, and never oxidized.  Sadly, as much as I really wanted to, I didn’t love this formula. 🙁

Having oily/combination skin, I abhor “glowy” foundations, as I just feel like I’m shiny instead of glowing.  Luminous is great, shiny, not-so-great.  I powdered twice, and still felt shiny, even with Becca’s matte primer- the finish really reminded me of the new Laura Mercier Candleglow Foundation.  However, I think most people will LOVE this formula, and it’s $9 less than the Laura Mercier.

Even though it’s not for me, with strobing and glowing being so popular, I really think Tarte did a great job.  If you like a glow and want a foundation with a beautiful finish at a reasonable price, this may be just what you’re looking for!

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation retails for $39.00 for 1 oz.  If you’re not in the Shreveport/Bossier area, you can get it directly from Tarte by clicking the banner above or below!
