The weekend is here! Sadly, this means we’re even closer to fall, and I’m not ready to say goodbye to summer yet.
Despite my sadness, there are some things that make me happy- like new release skincare products. I got a really neat product in the mail from StriVectin– the new Hyaluronic Dual-Response Serum. With drier weather around the corner, I’m very pleased to have the chance to try this stuff out.
So, what is this stuff, you ask? It’s a new addition to the brand’s Advanced Acid collection- which means it pairs their patented NIA-114 molecule with the most potent, skin-transforming acids for maximum results. I’m excited already!!

You may already know that hyaluronic acid can hold 1,000 times its own weight in water. StriVectin paired it with the NIA-114, so the dual-action serum will purportedly visibly plump skin with moisture, bringing dehydrated skin back to life.
As mentioned, this is a dual formula- there are two chambers that combine two formulas together when the product is pumped out. The first chamber contains six unique forms of hyaluronic acid to visibly plump the skin with immediate and continuous hydration. The second chamber combines NIA-114 and ceramides to lock in moisture and prevent water loss.
I’ll admit, I’m a sucker for fancy packaging, and this is really pretty neat. It almost reminds me of the SkinMedica TNS serum with the dual chambers. The pump bottle is well made, and easy to use. Not only is it convenient, but it also prevents the ingredients from degrading due to light and air exposure.
The serum itself is lightweight, and has a certain scent- it’s very light, and very pleasant. It reminds me of a cologne, but I can’t think of which one right off hand. The scent does dissipate quickly, though, so it’s not annoying in any way.
The serum goes on very smoothly, doesn’t feel sticky, and seems to absorb quickly. I didn’t feel at all greasy, which is a huge plus since I have oily/combination skin. I just switched to a different strength of tretinoin, so I’ve been getting the dreaded “flakies” again. Uggghhhh.
I’ve often found that a ceramide cream is the best way to combat this flakiness. I’m very happy that the StriVectin Hyaluronic Dual-Response Serum seems to do an even better job of addressing this issue, but with zero heaviness.
The only negative with the formula is that, like with all hyaluronic acid products, you may need to keep another type of moisturizer on hand to wear over the serum. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant, meaning it draws water to itself from its environment. If you live in a dry climate, it’s going to pull moisture out of your skin because there isn’t any in the air. This isn’t a deal-breaker, though, just add a moisturizer over it to eliminate the problem, and the serum will provide lasting hydration no matter how arid the air is.
As for me, I live in Louisiana, where it’s dreadfully humid, except for some really cold (for here…lol) days when we use heaters. During most of the year when we don’t have heat turned on in the house, I’ll be able to use just the serum without a separate moisturizer.
The $79 price tag is actually a good deal for a high quality serum- especially since serums are very concentrated and very little is required with each use. Plus, you may not even need a separate moisturizer.
If you’re in the market for an awesome hydrating serum, you should definitely check out the new StriVectin Hyaluronic Dual-Response Serum at StriVectin.com
