Hey everyone! The cold weather is here, and it’s wreaking havoc on my skin…ughhh! The good thing is that there are some great products out there to help keep dry, winter skin hydrated and fresh.

I was pleased to have the opportunity to try out Reviv Serums’ HA7X Multi-Molecular Hydrator Serum, as I’ve been happy with the other products I’ve tried from the brand. This serum not only helps support the skin’s own natural ability to replenish itself, but also targets stressors such a pollution, cortisol, and UV rays. The formula combines seven forms of hyaluronic technologies with a new molecule from Givaudan® Active Beauty (a 2016 Gold Award winner), to help with hydration, protection, smoothing, plumping, rejuvenation, and recovery (RevivSerums, 2016).

According to Reviv, HA7X compares to SkinMedica’s HA5 Rejuvenating Hydrator in that it includes 29 of the primary ingredients. However, HA7X also includes two additional new hyaluronic technologies, along with the benefits of award-winning Neurophroline, at about half the price of the SkinMedica product (RevivSerums, 2016).

Neurophroline is the winner of the 2016 Gold Award for Best New Ingredient at In-Cosmetics Paris, the leading global personal care business event. According to the ingredient’s developer, Givaudan SA, this extract from the tephrosia purpurea plant has shown unique biological capabilities such as: the first bioactive cosmetic ingredient that can block cortisol production; promote the release of endorphins; provide benefits in just two weeks, with visible redness reduction and skin luminosity, as well as improvement of skin color in just 28 days (RevivSerums, 2016).

In addition to Neurophroline, Reviv HA7X contains seven hyaluronic technologies: time-released, nature-derived, crosslinked, very low molecular weight, high molecular weight, patented glyceryl, and silanol variant. Hyaluronic acid is the skin’s natural hydrating mechanism, and holds in moisture to keep skin supple. As we age, hyaluronic acid in the skin drastically decreases (RevivSerums, 2016).

Hyaluronic acid is a fantastic hydrator, especially in so many different forms. For example, cross-linked, stable hyaluronic acid is used in cosmetic injections; and the time-released form will keep your skin hydrated longer.

It’s important to note that if you live in a drier climate or are in a dry environment, make sure you layer a moisturizer over the serum. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant, which means it draws moisture to itself. If the air is dry, it will pull moisture out of your skin. This is why RevivSerums recommends that you apply the serum to damp skin.

RevivSerums HA7X Multi-Molecular Hydrator Serum is housed in a purple pump bottle. The pump is not only convenient, but sanitary because there’s no need to repeatedly dip your fingers into a jar. I’ve been using the HA7X immediately after my Vitamin C serum, and applying my moisturizer afterward. It’s done a great job of keeping my skin hydrated without any greasiness.

Even though I have hypersensitive skin from using tretinoin, I’ve had no adverse effects from the HA7X. As a matter of fact, it’s so gentle that I’ve used it immediately following microdermabrasion and dermapen treatments. Although the serum is fantastic on its own, this allows for the ingredients to absorb into the skin more easily, resulting in even greater efficacy.
