Hello, hello, hello! Can’t believe we’re already halfway through September- so not ready for fall… arggghhhh!
If you’ve been following our blog, then you may know I never used to like makeup brushes- I always preferred the applicators that came with the products. Jerry kept insisting I try brushes, though, but all the brushes I’d ever had were horrible and just didn’t work.
Turns out I wasn’t using good brushes- they were all terrible pieces of junk. Having been an art major my first time around in college, I can’t believe it didn’t occur to me that just like you need good quality brushes for artwork, you need good quality brushes for makeup, too. This should have been a no-brainer!
Needless to say, since I started using good quality brushes, makeup application has never been easier. As a blogger, I’ve been fortunate enough to have some great ones on-hand. The problem is that a lot of good brushes are also quite pricey, and I often get asked if I know of any that perform well, that are really affordable at the same time.
It’s for this reason that I’m pleased to do a partnership to share the Real Perfection marble patterned makeup brushes with you. There is a set of 10 brushes that includes a variety for face and eyes; as well as a set of 8 brushes for eyes. As of this writing, the set of 10 is currently on sale for $17.99, and the set of 8 is currently $10.99 on Amazon, both on Prime.
The brushes look very sleek- the handles are white plastic with a marble pattern, and have rose gold-tone metallic accents. The brush heads themselves are well-shaped with very soft synthetic bristles. I honestly didn’t expect brushes at this price point to be that soft!
Whenever I get new brushes, the first thing I do before using them is to wash them. In stores, you never know what kind of bacteria may be lurking, and even if you purchase online, there are often various chemicals used in the manufacturing process. As expected, the brushes did shed a bit, but not as much as some others I’ve had. They held their shape well while drying, without any issues.
The brushes are dense enough to pick up product, but not so overly dense that they move product off the skin rather than deposit it. The only negative I could find is that when I tried to pull the protective plastic tube off of the eyeliner brush, the entire ferrule came off the handle. This isn’t a huge issue, though, as it happens with many brushes, and it was easy to push back on.
Both sets contain a good variety- you could really get away with just the 10-piece set, and not have to get any additional brushes. I was really happy with these sets, especially for the price.
