Hello all! Hope you all had a fabulous Monday!
I got another really awesome package from Pixi Beauty– this time it had a variety of the brand’s skincare and makeup products. In addition to the cult fave Glow Tonic, there was a selection of Pixi Pretties goodies- products created in collaboration with influencers. Awesome, huh?
If you’ve kept up with us, you know I don’t usually go for products that rely on celebrity endorsements, or that are created by celebrities. There are a few great ones out there, but all too often, these products just end up being gimmicky and mediocre.
Don’t forget to click the red box below to subscribe to our new YouTube channel! Thank you!
But, I LOVE the idea of Pixi collaborating with actual beauty influencers- while many beauty influencers end up becoming celebrities in their own right, it’s because of their influence in the beauty world. These people got to where they are because they know what people want and what’s popular, and as a result of testing SO many products, they know what works and what doesn’t. Who better to create products with…?!?
If you saw our post about the Pixi Glow Getters (read it here), then you know how awesome the Pixi Glow Tonic is. It’s a toner with 5% glycolic acid, which is one of my fave ingredients. I ran out of my Glow Tonic To Go, so I’m happy to have a replacement!
Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse
I almost shrieked with delight when I saw the Double Cleanse, a collab with Caroline Hirons, as I’ve been dying to try it! This is a 2-in-1 night time cleanser that has a solid cleansing oil on one side, and a cleansing cream on the other side, for the ultimate double cleanse.
The solid cleansing oil contains Vitamin E to protect and condition, omega rich camellia oil to nourish, and evening primrose oil to heal and moisturize. The cream contains Vitamin C to promote collagen, a peptide complex to help plump and relax lines, and arginine to improve cell renewal and elasticity (Pixi-Sjovik, 2017).
To use, you’re supposed to massage the solid cleansing oil into dry skin and remove with a moist cloth, then do the same with the cream. To be honest, I’ve never been a fan of cleansers that require a cloth for removal, or products that are packaged in jars. But, in all fairness, I believe this is the best, and most convenient, way to package this dual product.
As far as cleansers that you need a cloth to remove? I’ve never worn as much makeup, or changed my makeup throughout the day, as much as I do now that I’m a blogger. These types of cleansers are the BEST for removing makeup, it just seems to “melt” away. My skin is left soft and smooth, without being stripped of moisture. It’s easy to see why this is so popular!
ItsJudyTime ItsEyeTime Eyeshadow Palette
I’ve never tried any of the Pixi shadows, but the colors have always looked so fab. Terence Burns (@terenceburns1987) posted some of the palettes on Instagram, and I commented that I really needed to try one, and he mentioned how versatile they are. He wasn’t lying!
The ItsJudyTime ItsEyeTime palette contains 12 gorgeous shades, with a nice mix of matte and shimmer. The colors allow for more subdued or dramatic looks, whatever floats your boat at any given time. The Pixi site mentions that the colors are so pigmented that you can use your finger to pack the shadow directly onto your eyelids (Pixi-Sjovik, 2017).
While the shadows are pretty pigmented, they’re not quite as pigmented as some others I’ve tried. But, what makes these stand out is how silky and blendable they are. OMG, they’re just such a joy to use! Even the mattes go on easily and blend with no problems- and that says a LOT.
For the first time, I only brought ONE eyeshadow palette with me on a trip. That’s right, the Pixi + ItsJudyTime eyeshadow palette was the ONLY eyeshadow palette I took with us to Iowa. I didn’t even miss having more with me, and I didn’t have a need for any others. Terence was so right about the versatility!
Maryam Maquillage Strobe & Bronze Palette
Yet again, another type of product from Pixi that I haven’t tried before! This Maryam Maquillage Strobe & Bronze palette contains a nice mix of three highlighters and three bronzers for a natural sunkissed glow. The colors are absolutely beautiful, and I almost tried them before I took pics…lol!
The highlight shades give a luminous glow to amplify and reflect light, while the bronze shades add warmth and create natural definition (Pixi-Sjovik, 2017). I really like the color choices- even though my skin tone changes with the seasons (despite piling on sunscreen…lol), I’ll be able to use this palette year-round due to the variety of shades.
Like the eyeshadows, these go on very easily, and are extremely blendable. They’re pretty pigmented, but buildable if you’d like more intensity. I also like that I don’t need a separate contour shade when I use this palette- the middle bronzing shade seems to work well on me for contouring. This palette is just as versatile as the eyeshadow palette, so I’m very happy with it!
Aspyn Ovard Glow-y Powder in Rome Rose
This velvety soft highlighter was created to add a glow and create a luminous effect. The natural mineral powder formula hydrates and reflects light to brighten the complexion. The shades are suitable for all skin tones (Pixi-Sjovik, 2017).
There are three shades of Aspyn Ovard Glow-y Powder available- London Lustre, Santorini Sunset, and the Rome Rose that I received. It’s difficult to see in pictures, but the Rome Rose almost seems to have golden flecks in certain types of light- it’s a stunning shade.
While the color is sheer, I found that it’s quite buildable, and I’ve even been wearing this shade as a blush. Even though it’s a highlighter, it seems to last a bit longer than I expected when I wear it with a primer, which was a really nice surprise!
I’m so excited to have gotten to try these Pretties out. The Double Cleanse and Glow Tonic prep skin perfectly, and the makeup colors are so versatile, that it’s easy to create a plethora of amazing looks. To top it all off, the prices are very reasonable for what you get. Head on over to PixiBeauty.com and check ‘em out. Happy shopping!
