Lol, not really, but I wish we had the energy for wild weekends! Over the last weekend and the past week, we got kind of off-schedule on account of Labor Day and other things going on, so I haven’t been able to get this posted until now. We usually try to get to Sephora, Ulta, and other stores at least once every weekend. Last weekend, we decided at the last minute to get a hotel and make a little “staycation” out of it.
Right away, the signs were all there that it was going to be a GREAT weekend! The hotel was kind enough to put some inspirational artwork directly above the toilet that said, “Inspire Create Wish.” It was a nice touch that they wanted us to enjoy ourselves as much as possible while in that room. Next, our friend Amanda B. mentioned on social media that World Market had Not Your Father’s Root Beer in stock. It was like trumpets blaring from above- we had been trying to find this since my family came to visit a month ago! And finally, my apologies to my vegetarian/vegan family members and friends, but the Beef Jerky Outlet apparently gives out FREE SAMPLES! Oh, yes, it was going to be a great weekend!
While at one of our favorite stores, it was like there was another trumpet fanfare, and a beam of light shining down upon… Egyptian Eddie! With us both being Metallica fans, and having an interest in Egyptology, I had just had to strike a pose with him…
While we were at the same store with Egyptian Eddie, we saw some awesome masks, including some that were horse heads. We both thought my nephews would have so much fun with them. They were really pretty cool, and I wished I had gotten a picture of them. But, when we were at the mall, we heard some guys laughing, quite loudly. We turned to look, lo and behold, one of them was walking around with a horse head mask on! I asked if I could get a few pictures, and they were nice enough to oblige.
And of course, no weekend in the Shreveport-Bossier area would be complete without a stop at Hooters on the Boardwalk. The manager, Mike, is kind enough not to make every single Hooters girl work every single weekend night. Since we missed a few last time, we were glad to have the opportunity to visit with them. Another plus is that since I didn’t get our “wild weekend” posted until now, I was able to include more of our fave gals from this weekend!
FYI- they now have some new menu items! I am a creature of habit, so I just can’t give up my bone-in, breaded, extra crispy, Three Mile Island or 911 wings. But, Jerry, on the other hand, will try new stuff once in a while. He’s tried the Texas Melt, and this past time, he had a new sandwich- steak and cheese on sourdough. Let’s just say he was NOT sad he didn’t get the wings!
After stuffing ourselves silly, we enjoyed a quiet walk, in perfect weather, back to the car so we could return to the hotel for some much-needed rest.
Although we didn’t go far, and we didn’t go for long, our mini getaway turned out to be just what we needed. Hoping to do it again soon!
