If you have a bad experience at a restaurant, it’s not highly likely you’ll return any time soon. But, have you ever had a great experience, and when you returned, you were really disappointed? This is the reason we went for a repeat visit to Grub Burger Bar in Shreveport- after a great experience (read about it here), we really wanted to put these people to the test!
Our high opinion of Grub stands firm- we had an equally awesome experience the second time around. Possibly even better, considering the mouthwatering Bloody Mary I had!
Obviously, word has spread since Valentine’s Day about how great this place is, as they were a lot busier this time. Even so, a young woman was stationed at the door to open it for customers, and she provided us with a menu. There was a long line this time, but she made sure to let people know there was space at the bar for those who didn’t want to wait. Since we sat at a table last time, we took her up on that to try it out.
SO glad we sat at the bar- now we know why we saw bacon last time- we watched as people kept ordering Bloody Marys, and OMG- definitely a signature drink! This is truly one of those cocktails that garners enough attention when served that others “ooh” and “ahh” about it, making sales skyrocket. But, was it just a pretty drink, or did it taste as great as it looks? At first, I was planning on ordering a spiked shake, until I saw the Bloody Marys!
The bartender, a clean-cut young guy, showed us the vodka and explained that it was bacon-infused. YES, BACON-INFUSED VODKA!!! They use Zing-Zang, which is my fave Bloody Mary mix anyway, but they add the bacon vodka, and garnish with bacon and olives stuffed with some sort of white stuff- not quite sure what it was, but it was good enough that we actually ate some of the olives, whereas we usually don’t…lol. Even Jerry drank some of it, and he doesn’t drink! By the way, this decadent monstrosity of a Bloody Mary was only FIVE BUCKS!!!!!
Bacon-infused vodka
Just like the first time, the burgers were absolutely amazing. The fries this time were thinner, which we liked better, and the bartender said this is the way they are supposed to be. Jerry compared the flavor to “fair food,” you know, that taste that you can only get at the fair? SO YUMMY!
Although it was very busy, our orders were taken promptly, and we received our food within ten minutes or so. Again, all the employees appeared to be in a good mood, and seemed to actually enjoy their jobs. They were all very pleasant, and checked in with us regularly to ensure everything was perfect.
Can’t wait to go back to Grub Burger Bar in Shreveport! Five Guys what…??? Who the Hell are they…??? 😉
