New Colorescience Body Shield + Santa Fe Bronzer

Happy Sunday-Funday, everyone!

With summer here, and being outdoors every day for running and working out, I was SO thrilled to receive a package from Colorescience with their new Total Protection Body Shield SPF 50 and Santa Fe Bronzer.

Since I have an active lifestyle and sweat a LOT, I love that the Body Shield is water and sweat resistant up to 80 minutes.  The sunscreen is formulated with the brand’s trademarked EnviroScreen technology which not only means broad spectrum protection from UV radiation, but infrared and blue light as well.

Instead of harmful chemicals, the active ingredient is zinc oxide, so no worries about irritation or harming the environment.  Shea butter is hydrating, and physalis angulate extract soothes the skin and provides antioxidant protection (Special Chem, 2018).

Body Shield is housed in a sleek blue squeeze tube with metallic print, so it looks really lux.  The cream has a barely-there fresh scent that dissipates quickly, and a slight tint, so there’s no white cast.  It’s also pretty thick- I was worried that it would be difficult to spread due to how thick it appeared, but there are some good silicones in the formula that make application a breeze.

The Body Shield wears really well, even while I’m on a run in the 100 degree Louisiana heat- it’s oil-free, so I don’t feel greasy, and it did a great job of protecting me from getting a sunburn.  I also had no problems washing it off in the shower like I do with some other brands.  Very happy with this sunscreen!

Santa Fe Bronzer

Colorescience has two shades of bronzer, Mojave and Santa Fe, and both are beautiful.  I received the Santa Fe, which is perfect for my medium-toned skin.  I love that it’s yellow-based rather than blue-based, because it results in a truly bronzed rather than contoured effect.

The bronzer isn’t labeled as a sunscreen product, I’m guessing because it’s not generally used over the entire face.  But it does contain some great mineral ingredients, such as titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, which have sun protection qualities.

Fusanus spicatus wood oil, cananga odorata flower oil, and pelagonium graveolens oil help soothe and relieve irritation.  Mica and pearl powder provide a luminous effect without looking garish or over-the-top.  I love the natural, sunkissed glow I get from this bronzer.  It’s easy to apply and blend, and with the Colorescience Bronzing Perfector primer, it wore all day, even in the hot Louisiana humidity!
