My Current Skin Care Routine (OMG!)

Omg.  This is a LOT of stuff, I know, and it’s not even a fraction of the products I have in my “inventory.”

I know bloggers have much more involved skin care routines than most people, but damn, I didn’t realize HOW much more involved until a couple days ago when someone asked me about it.   In my defense, I didn’t always use this many products, and I don’t use each one every day.  For example, some I only use right after a procedure.

Does it all work?  Well, I’m 41, never had any cosmetic surgeries, and I still get carded to buy wine.  So, I guess it hasn’t hurt…lol!  But, anywho, on with it!

Devices

I used to use a Clarisonic Mia 2, but have recently switched to a Michael Todd Soniclear Elite Deluxe.  There’s nothing wrong with the Clarisonic, and it’s still an awesome device, but the Soniclear Elite does so much more (see my review here).  I use the brush head for cleansing, and the sonic infusion head with my serums right after a microderm or dermal pen treatment.  The sonic infusion head helps skin care products penetrate deeper into the skin so they’re even more effective.

My Foreo Luna Mini 2 (see my review here) is a silicone sonic cleansing device that is great even for sensitive skin.  I use this when my skin is feeling more sensitive or fragile, such as following microderm or dermal pen procedures.  It’s also perfect following chemical peels, or any time your skin is a bit more irritated than normal.

Cleansers

If I’m wearing heavy eye makeup, I’ll start with Make Up For Ever Sens’Eyes remover (see my review here).  This is seriously the best eye makeup remover I’ve ever used.  Don’t let the “sensitive” part fool you, this takes EVERYTHING off with a single, light swipe.  If I’m wearing makeup, or just really dirty, I’ll do a precleanse with Michael Todd Grape Seed Cleansing Oil (see my review here).  This stuff is fab for “melting” off makeup, and it has an emulsifier so it rinses cleanly as opposed to plain oils.

In the morning, I usually use Omorovicza Foaming Cleanser (see my review here) because it cleanses thoroughly without stripping my skin.  If I’m a little “flaky” from Retin-A, I’ll use Nayelle Probiotic Skincare Glacial Cleanser (see my review here) as it has a mild exfoliant in it.  At night, after precleasing, I usually use Sunday Riley’s Ceramic Slip Cleanser (see my review here), which is great for detoxing and removing impurities.  If I still don’t feel clean enough, like if I’ve been working out or had a lot of makeup on, I’ll follow up with Tatcha Indigo Rice Enzyme Powder (see my review here).

Exfoliants

I don’t exfoliate every day, and neither should you.  Ideally, the skin exfoliates itself, but sometimes you may want to help it along a little bit.  I used to over-exfoliate, before I realized that was worse than not doing it at all!   One of my fave products is a massage mask- I get the same glow as I from exfoliating.  The Bionova Scrub Alternative Bioactive Oil-Free Massage Mask is a miracle product that makes me feel SO pampered (see my review here).  It’s even better when used with the complete Bionova line, which is one of my faves, and I revert back to this system regularly.

I also use the PMD Microdermabrasion (see my review here) device and the MyChelle Dermaceuticals PRO Speed Peel (see my review here).  I alternate with these, as using them both too close together can wreak havoc on your skin.  I usually exfoliate on Sunday nights, and I’ll use the PMD one week, then the MyChelle peel the next week.  This way, I get the best of both worlds- chemical and manual exfoliation, but in moderation.

Masks

I’ve been alternating the Nayelle Probiotic Skincare Glacial Oceanic Clay mask (see my review here) and the Derma E 2-in-1 Charcoal mask, but I ran out of the Derma E (see my review here).  The Nayelle mask is very liquid, and dries quickly, so it’s perfect if you’re in a hurry.  It’s non-irritating, rinses away very easily, and leaves my skin clean and soft.

After using a clay mask, I usually use a moisturizing mask, such as the Ark Skin Perfector Hydration Injection Masque (see my review here).  This is great for boosting moisture and plumping up the skin.  I also use this when I just need a quick little pick-me-up.

Toner

Lately, I’ve only been using Peter Thomas Roth UnWrinkle Turbo Line Smoothing Toning Lotion (see my review here).  It’s alcohol-free, and a perfect all-around toner.  It balances pH, and gets rid of any leftover traces of makeup or impurities.

Eye Cream

I don’t use an eye cream so much as eye products.  The Exuviance DePuffing Eye Serum (see my review here) is a lifesaver when my allergies are acting up.  I keep it in the fridge, so the cooling sensation helps it work even better, plus it’s VERY soothing.  PCA Skin Ideal Complex Revitaling Eye Gel is my go-to, even Jerry uses this stuff (read my review here).  It absorbs easily, and wears well, even under makeup.

Serums

During the week following microderm, I use the Sunday Riley Good Genes Treatment (see my review here).  This magical potion contains lactic acid, and leaves my skin glowing and vibrant.  During the week following the MyChelle peel, I use the HydroPeptide LumaPro-C serum (read my review here), which contains stable Vitamin C to combat hyperpigmentation.   After the Sunday Riley or HydroPeptide, I follow up with the RevivSerums HA7X Multi-Molecular Hydrator Serum (see my review here), which contains various forms of hyaluronic acid and several peptides to fight wrinkles and fine lines.

Moisturizers

The two current moisturizers I’m using are the Dr. Jart Water Drop and Alteya Organics Bio Damascena Rose Otto Face Cream.  The Dr. Jart is light, and perfect under makeup for during the day.  The Alteya Organics is a bit too heavy during the day, but it’s perfect for me at night- I wake up with super soft skin!  Day and night, I use NeoStrata Triple Firming Neck Cream (see my review here).

Facial Mist

Facial mists are fantastic for toning, hydrating, setting makeup, and even if you need just a quick jolt of moisture.  My faves are Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist and Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist.  The Omorovicza (see my review here) is best for toning and setting makeup, and I also love it right after a workout.

The Tatcha mist (see my review here) leaves a light film of moisture, so it’s great to add hydration, and it’s very soothing right after a peel or microdermabrasion.  This spray is also chock full of antioxidants, so it packs a hefty anti-aging punch.

Other

I never go without sunscreen during the day, and my fave is Exuviance Sheer Daily Protector SPF 50 (see my review here).  It’s great under makeup, and there’s no white cast.  At night, I use Exuviance Overnight Recovery Masque (see my review here) if I’ve been outside, as it helps my skin recover from the elements.

Whew!  That was a lot to type out!  Even though I don’t use them all every day, it’s hard to believe there are this many products in my regular routine.  Sadly, I don’t know if there are any I would get rid of, as most of these I couldn’t do without…lol!
