Marc Jacobs Ultra-Skinny Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner

I love gel eyeliners, especially in automatic pencil form because I don’t have to sharpen anything or clean a brush and they’re great for travel.  When Sephora offered the Marc Jacobs Ultra-Skinny Gel eyeliner in Blacquer as a Beauty Insider reward, I snapped it up right away!

The liner is purported to have an ultra-thin, unbreakable tip, and glide on easily.  The gel formula lines precisely and after it sets, it stays in place all day.

The liner comes in sleek silver-toned packaging, and the liner twists up.  The shade, Blacquer, is described as “blackest, shiniest black.”  Although I do prefer matte or velvet finish liners, I don’t dislike a shiny finish.

At first, I didn’t like that the tip was flat instead of pointed.  But, as it turned out, it didn’t really matter since it’s so fine, just two millimeters.  The liner went on very smoothly, it didn’t pull, and it was very easy to use.  I used primer on just one eyelid, and it lasted all day, even on the eyelid without primer.

My one complaint about this liner is that wasn’t very black.  It’s described as “blackest, shiniest black,” so I expected it to be BLACK, like Urban Decay’s All Nighter liner.   Although I do like this liner, I prefer the Hourglass 1.5mm Mechanical Gel Eye Liner, it’s blacker, thinner, and just $16.00, whereas the Marc Jacobs is $24.00.  However, for some people, the Hourglass may be a bit too thin, and this will be just right!
