When the new Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick shades were released, I knew I just had to try “Echo,” which is described as a satin navy blue.
Although the lipstick contains Vitamin E and sunflower seed to help enhance “comfort,” there was no difference in the formula. It still made my lips dry as Hell; but the color payoff and matte finish were well worth it. Prior to applying, I moisturized my lips with Tatcha Camellia lip balm to make it a bit less drying.
Tip: It helps to exfoliate your lips prior to using matte lipsticks such as this- the color will go on more smoothly and will wear better.
At first, it seemed as if the color was going to be a bit splotchy, but it really smoothed out once it dried. To add a bit more depth and interest, as if blue lipstick isn’t interesting enough on its own, I dabbed a bit of Urban Decay eyeshadow in “Peace” (a turquoise blue shimmer) onto the center of my lips.
Did I have the courage to wear this out in public? I damn sure did! At the urging of Jerry, I went ahead and kept it on, and actually got a lot of compliments as well as comments. People were not only genuinely complimentary, but many people wanted to know where I got this shade. Will we start seeing more people walking around with blue lips? I sure hope so!
Hanging out with Carrie at Bossier City Hooters prior to demolishing an order of hot wings and beer. (Yes, I wore this out in public!)
While the color lasted very well, I did remove it prior to eating. Despite being long-lasting, there is nothing thus far that can stand up to the hot sauce drenched hot wings at Hooters!
