How-To: Natural No Makeup Look

After Kasey N. posted a pic on social media of herself with no makeup, I was insanely jealous of how gorgeous she was. Having such horrible sinuses, and it being allergy season, my nose is always red, my eyes are always swollen, etc. It’s not pretty. But, there are days when I don’t like to wear a lot of makeup. (Prior to this blog, that was almost EVERY day!)

So, since I didn’t feel like wearing makeup today, but didn’t want to look so repulsively “allergenic,” I decided to try a no makeup look. The important thing is to enhance what is already there, without detracting from it. For example, I used eyeshadow colors that were in the same family as my skin tone. And, instead of using black eyeliner, I used brown.

I prepped with Dior HydraLife Pro Youth Sorbet Cream moisturizer and Omorovicza Mineral UV Shield SPF 30. I used NARS All Day Weightless Luminous Foundation in Barcelona. This is a lightweight, fluid foundation that still provides enough coverage so my red nose doesn’t show! Instead of using a brush, I did as recommended and pressed it onto my face with my hands. I followed with Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish powder, applied with Urban Decay’s Good Karma Finishing brush. I used Kat Von D Shade Light palette to lightly contour and highlight my face. For blush, I used NARS Orgasm, applied with It Cosmetics for Ulta Velvet Lux Soft Focus Sculpting brush.

For my eyes, I primed with Smashbox 24 Hour Photo Finish Eye Primer, and used shadows from Too Faced Chocolate Bar- White Chocolate on my brow bone, and Milk Chocolate on my lids, using It Cosmetics for Ulta All Over Shadow Brush. I used Estee Lauder’s eye pencil in brown to line just my top lash line. Since I was going for a natural look, I chose a lengthening rather than a volunizing mascara, and used one coat of Benefit They’re Real! mascara in black. For my brows, I used It Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Brown Pencil. I finished the whole look off with Lipstick Queen’s Chinatown lip crayon in Catalina.

By the way, Kasey, I wore my crazy hypnotic cat shirt just for YOU!
