Holy cow! Or, should I say, holy goat…?!?!?!? Honey Sweet Acres Facial Cream is absolutely divine! This is truly a beautiful, luxurious product that almost anyone could benefit from. I know, I know, it comes in a jar, and I will address that later. But, first things first, this is such a great formula and is so versatile that I never want to be without it.
Honey Sweetie Acres Facial Cream is hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, and paraben-free, so it’s perfect for even the most sensitive skin; and the high butterfat goat milk provides soothing hydration and lipids to nourish the skin (Honey Sweetie Acres, n.d.).
This cream is jam-packed with superstar ingredients, such as organic aloe leaf juice, goat milk, organic coconut oil, glycerin, grape seed oil, organic jojoba seed oil, avocado oil, witch hazel, Vitamin E, white willow bark extract, and Vitamin C ester. These ingredients are very impressive, especially with the powerhouse antioxidants and stellar moisturizers. Even more awesome is that the organic aloe leaf juice, goat milk, and organic coconut oil are the top three in the list, so this cream is a HUGE deal!
Another awesome thing about the ingredients is the alpha and beta hydroxy acids. Goat milk is a great source of lactic acid (AHA), and the white willow bark is a great BHA- salicylic acid. Since salicylic acid is oil soluble, it can penetrate into the pores, which not only helps with acne and black heads, but helps transport the other ingredients deeper. These ingredients are great choices, especially for sensitive skin, because they’re not as irritating as glycolic acid or other AHAs.
Now, to address the one negative- the jar packaging. In order for the ingredients to remain stable and prevent degradation, products with antioxidants should be packaged to minimize exposure to light and air (Kaur, Kapila & Agrawal, 2007). There is also a matter of hygiene with repeatedly dipping one’s fingers into a product. (This can be remedied by using a cosmetic spatula to dip the product out.) For some reason, though, and despite the abundance of research on the matter, jar packaging still seems to be the standard for luxury skincare creams. I have even run into a 1.7 ounce jar of facial cream for nearly $1,000.00 (yes, a thousand dollars)! That being said, I’m not sure it would actually work to put this cream in another type of package– it’s SO. THICK.
Yes, the Honey Sweetie Acres Facial Cream is so thick that it actually stands up. But, it somehow still spreads very easily, and is readily absorbed- I swear, this stuff is made with magic! Even if you do NOT have dry skin, don’t let the thickness scare you away. I have oily/combination skin, and experienced no problems. In the summer, it may be a bit too heavy for use during the day, but that’s about it- no clogged pores, no breakouts, or any negative effects (thank you, BHAs!), the ingredients are THAT good.
Honey Sweetie Acres Facial Cream gives my skin a very soft, smooth finish, very similar to the famed Embryolisse Lait Crème that is a staple in most makeup artists’ kits. The formula is also perfect for Retin-A dryness and peeling, and for use after cosmetic procedures. I’ll be doing a 70% glycolic peel soon, and this is going to be a lifesaver- I’m also going to use it after my next dermapen treatment.
I’m going to experiment with various travel size packages to see if they will work for this cream. If not, I’m going to transfer this into an opaque jar to minimize as much light exposure as possible. While light and air won’t cause the ingredients to become harmful, with such great antioxidants, I hate for them to lose potency on account of air and light exposure. Even if I can’t find another container, this will still be a very effective, high-quality nourishing moisturizer- YES, IT REALLY IS THAT GOOD!
So, what’s the overall verdict? Honey Sweetie Acres Facial Cream truly rivals some of the most high-end products I have tried. The AHA/BHAs gently exfoliate and stimulate collagen, the antioxidants provide protection against free radicals, and lipids restore hydration. The luxurious texture absorbs very easily, and results in fabulously soft and smooth skin. Best of all, it’s only $13.50 (!!!), and at that price, you can’t afford NOT to get this!
