Givenchy Le Rouge A Porter in 201 “Rose Aristocrate”

I got this as a reward mini in one of my online orders from Sephora. I had never tried any lipsticks from the brand, so I was pretty excited to get it. According to Givenchy, this sheer finish lipstick is an ultra-sensorial, hydrating formula that contains hyaluronic acid to protect lips while coating them with a pop of color in a subtle, shiny finish.

Right away, the packaging is just fabulous and lux, makes you think it is truly something special.  It comes in a little box embossed with metallic lettering, with a drawer that slides out, and the lipstick is in tissue paper.  How cute is that…?

The lipstick does have a scent (the ultra-sensorial effect?), but I can’t quite put my finger on what it is. It kind of reminds me of some gum I once had, that tasted like flowers. I actually like scented cosmetics, so to me, it was not unpleasant. The fragrance dissipates fairly quickly, so unless you are sensitive or really don’t like it, this should not be a major issue.

The first time I applied this, it did drag just a little. I think it may have had some sort of coating, because after the first application, it went on much more smoothly. Givenchy describes this as sheer, and they weren’t lying! I felt this was more like a colored lip balm in terms of pigmentation. It stayed moist, and it didn’t dry out my lips. But, it did take three or four swipes to achieve the color in the photo. Nevertheless, this is a great lipstick and shade for days I don’t want to look too “made up.”

Givenchy Le Rouge-A-Porter retails for $36.00 for 0.07 oz.
