A new week is here, and Halloween is merely days away- but even more importantly, it’s my nephew’s birthday! (Happy birthday, Sweetumsie Heart, I love you and hope you have the bestest day EVER!)
So, are you planning on doing anything for Halloween? Over the past few years, October has become one of my least favorite months, despite having always loved it in the past. We haven’t done anything in several years, last time was when my friend, Ashlea, had a party. She’s one of the very few people who can actually persuade us to leave the house…lol!
Anyway, guess what? Pixi sent another box, which always gives me a rush of excitement since they have some really marvelous products! This package did not disappoint- there were three different shades of Shea Butter Lip Balm, and three shades of MatteLustre Lipstick. I couldn’t wait to play around with these!

I’d gotten one of the lip balms in a subscription box a while back, and I really liked it, so I was super happy to get more. I’d never tried any of the MatteLustre lipsticks, but the super matte formulas out there wreak havoc on my lips, and this formula looked really promising.
The Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balms are infused with shea butter and Vitamin E, so lips are nourished and protected (Pixi-Sjovik, 2017). They’re perfect for every day casual wear- I can feel more “put together,” but my lips are being moisturized and nourished at the same time.
The shades I received are Ripe Raspberry, Sweet Peach, and Natural Rose. All of them are really pretty- even the Ripe Raspberry which isn’t something I would normally wear. But, since they’re a lip balm, they’re pretty sheer, so I’ve actually worn this color several times and loved it!
The best part, to me, about these lip balms is that I can reapply without needing a mirror, and at the end of the day, my lips are left in a better condition than they were in the morning when I first applied the balm.
As for the MatteLustre Lipsticks, the full coverage demi-matte formula is purported to plump and protect, while providing intense, long-lasting color. Peptides, hyaluronic acid, and Vitamins C and E help create smoother, fuller looking lips (Pixi-Sjovik, 2017).
The shades they sent are Peach Blossom, Bitten Rose, and Rose Naturelle, all of which are beautiful and versatile at the same time. The neat thing about these is that you can have a satiny finish by applying just as they are, or you can lightly blot with your finger after application to get more of a matte finish.
While the MatteLustre lipsticks aren’t as long-lasting as the super matte formulas on the market, as I need to reapply every few hours or after eating, I’ll gladly take the trade-off. Since these lipsticks don’t leave my lips parched like a desert, I don’t mind reapplying every now and then. However, they do last long enough that they don’t transfer easily, so you can go ahead and kiss your loved ones…lol!
I’m super happy with these lip balms and lipsticks- I know I’ll get plenty of use out of all of them. I also like that the prices won’t break the bank- the Shea Butter Lip Balms are just $8 each, and the MatteLustre Lipsticks are only $12 each.
The only negative is that the only retailer near us that carries Pixi is Target, and they’re always out of stock on many products from the brand. Even if they call saying they got a new shipment, they’re sold out by the time we get there. Thankfully, PixiBeauty.com makes it easy to order online any time- click here or on one of the banners to start shopping or browse the colors!
