One of my favorite face masks is the Instant Revitalizing Mask from Radical Skincare. My skin used to be able to withstand even the harshest products; but since I started using Retin-A, it has become much more sensitive. This mask actually does what it’s supposed to do, without irritating my skin. The sad thing is, the Sephora stores near me are both inside JCPenney, and don’t carry a large range of products. So… when I received a box in the mail from Radical Skincare, I literally squealed with delight when I saw what was inside- I am SO excited to try this!
Radical Skincare was founded by two sisters, Liz and Rachel, who are the daughters of Richard Edlich, MD, PhD. Dr. Edlich was a world-renowned professor of plastic surgery and biomedical engineering. He also founded the University of Virginia’s Wound and Healing Center, where he was a pioneer in the field of burn care (University of Virginia, 2014).
Having worked in their father’s lab, the sisters were exposed to skin rejuvenation from a very early age. Later on, Rachel developed Rosacea, with inflammation and red bumps all over her face. She was told that she would need three types of medication for the rest of her life. Liz, at 46, had noticed gravity taking hold, and her skin wasn’t snapping back the way it used to. Together with a team of chemists and other scientists, they developed effective formulas for their needs, with no intention at the time of using them for anything other than their own personal care. Now, in less than three short years, their products have become so popular that they have expanded to over 800 prestige stores in 15 different countries (Radical Beauty, 2015).
I received the company’s Radical Perfection Fluid, which is new for October. It purportedly illuminates, plumps, and hydrates. Right away, I knew this was a new and very special product because of the red and pink packaging, rather than the standard red and white. It also comes in the same pump bottle as the Instant Revitalizing Mask, which is great because not only does it keep out air, but it’s very sanitary.
I also received the Age-Defying Exfoliating Pads, which also look very promising, especially with the peeling my skin does due to the tretinoin. I can’t wait to start testing these products out, and will update when I do so!
