I’m SO glad winter is OVER! The cold just isn’t for me, and I’m super glad it’s getting warmer again, and I’m back in my flip-flops! With the changing of the seasons, it’s also time to do away with that dull, drab winter skin. Exuviance Triple Microdermabrasion Face Polish is the perfect way to do that!
For those of you who are new to our site and haven’t read our other Exuviance posts, this is one of my fave brands because their ingredients are scientifically-proven. As a matter of fact, the brand’s founders, Drs. Van Scot and Yu, are the original patent-holders of the glycolic peel, or “lunchtime peel.” With such renowned pioneers in the field behind the brand, you just can’t go wrong!
First off, a bit about exfoliants for those of you who may not know, there are several kinds available. Most exfoliants are either mechanical or chemical. Mechanical exfoliants are those that work in a physical way, such as microdermabrasion, dermaplaning, and scrubs that contain particles of some sort that slough off the dead stuff. Chemical exfoliants, on the other hand, work by softening or “eating” away at impurities and dead cells. Chemical exfoliants include enzyme peels, acid peels, etc.
Exuviance Triple Microdermabrasion, though, isn’t like most other exfoliants- it’s much, much, much better! This wonderful stuff contains a blend of chemical, enzyme, and physical exfoliating rejuvenators. After just one use, the intensive treatment provides immediate skin resurfacing results (NeoStrata, 2017).
The formula contains pure professional grade crystals, like the ones used by dermatologists, to physically slough off dead cells. Glycolic acid and papaya enzyme help dissolve impurities that lead to clogged pores, as well as address dry, dull patches. Using Exuviance Triple Microdermabrasion once or twice a week can lead to brighter, clearer skin, with reduced appearance of dark spots and pores. Furthermore, regular use can increase the absorption and performance of other skincare products (NeoStrata, 2017).
Exuviance Triple Microdermabrasion is housed in an easy-to-use squeeze tube. This not only helps eliminate contamination by bacteria and impurities, but also keeps the ingredients safe exposure to light and air. Therefore, the ingredients will remain effective for a longer period of time. Plus, the silver-tone tube looks pretty sleek sitting on my vanity!
I was already impressed with the formulation and packaging, so I was pretty excited to try this stuff out. I honestly found it difficult to wait until after I took photos before opening it up…lol! It’s an orangey-peachy color, with little tiny “crystals,” with a fresh and kind of fruity scent. If you don’t like scented skincare, though, no worries, this seems very natural. Also, like other Exuviance products, it’s not an overwhelming fragrance, and it dissipates quickly.
While most Exuviance products are perfectly suitable for sensitive skin, one thing I always worry about when it comes to “mechanical” exfoliants is sensitivity. I have hypersensitive skin from using tretinoin, but I didn’t have any problems with this. I should note, though, that this is something that I will only use once a week, or every two weeks if I’ve had any irritation.
After use, my skin felt soft and silky-smooth, and had a healthy glow. My pores appeared smaller, and my makeup went on much more smoothly. The only negative is that some people may find it to be a bit pricey at $72, but you get 2.6 ounces, which is more than you get with exfoliants from other brands. Plus, like other skincare from Exvuiance, it’s very concentrated, and a tiny bit will go a LONG way, so it ends up being a very good value for what you get.
