Hey everyone!  Hope you’re all having a fantabulous weekend!

One of the things that happened years ago when I started working at night was that a lot of the influencers who were active on social media during those times were those in the UK.  As a result, I became familiar with some of the brands on the other side of the pond that weren’t as well-known here.  Thankfully, some of those have become more readily available stateside.  Double thankfully, one of those brands is Elemis.

After years of dealing with acne, and using utilitarian skincare products, such as prescription topical antibiotics, I now have a “thing” for luxury spa-type skincare.  Grabbing boring white bottles with prescription labels and smearing unscented (or worse, yucky smelling) goop onto my face just seemed like too much of a chore.  (Perhaps this is why I prefer products that are scented…?)

Taking excellent care of my skin, and never getting lazy with my routine, is what has kept me from having to go backward with my complexion.  Using lux products has been a huge help- I don’t dread the monotony each morning and night- I actually look forward to it.

Being a newbie to the brand, I’m having so much fun trying different products from Elemis.  It’s easy to see why so many UK bloggers love the brand, and many of their HG faves are from Elemis.  Well, not only does Elemis make products for your face, but they also have a bath and body collection (or “range” as they call it in the UK), so you can have a complete spa experience at home!

One of my long-time go-to body products has been Monoi oil- as in coconut oil with tiare (gardenia) from Tahiti.  I love the original Monoi Tiare Tahiti when my skin is super-duper dry because it’s quite economical and I can just slather it on in endless quantities.

I got some of the NARS Monoi Body Glow (both I and II) a while back, as I heard the fragrance was heavenly.  The reviews I read were correct- it smelled really good, but the scent didn’t seem to last.  I’ve kept using them, though, since they moisturize so well.  I’ll probably only re-purchase the first one, though, for when I want to add a shimmery bronze glow.  With the second one, the original Monoi Tiare Tahiti is a better deal.

Well, guess what?  Elemis was very generous and sent me some of their products to try, including their best-selling Frangipani Monoi Body Oilicon.  Oh.  Em.  Gee.  I love Monoi.  I love Elemis.  So this is a double wow.  When I looked at the ingredients, I noticed that while the majority of the product is, indeed, Monoi Oil, it also contains a few ingredients and extracts used in perfumery, such as aldehydes.  With my love of fragrances, now I was even more excited!

The oil is a solid at room temperature or just below

It’s important to note that since this IS a Monoi oil, it becomes a solid right at room temperature or just below.  Elemis has packaged it in a beautiful red glass bottle- I normally worry about glass bottles because I’m clumsy…lol, but with Monoi  and coconut oils, I prefer this type of bottle as I can just hold it under warm water for a few seconds and it becomes a liquid.  However, if I’m using the oil right after a shower, I simply set the bottle close by and the steam and heat do the trick.

Another thing I like about the bottle is the cap.  It has a small kind of pointed screw top cap, and when you take it off, the bottle is kind of like a fancy-schmancy olive oil bottle in a really good restaurant- it has a small opening that allows you to shake on however many drops you want, so it’s super easy to dispense without pouring out way too much.

I will admit, although I was excited about the fragrance extracts, I was worried at the same time that they may be too strong.  I was pleasantly surprised, as this oil didn’t smell much stronger than my Monoi Tiare Tahiti, but with the frangipani notes, it’s a bit more complex of a fragrance.

When I got out of the shower, the fragrance from the Elemis Frangipani Monoi Body Oil lasted longer than with the other ones I have, but it wasn’t stronger- so it didn’t clash with anything.  In other words, the added fragrances were in a small enough quantity that the characteristics of Monoi oil were retained, with the benefit of a longer-lasting, more complex freshness.  This was exactly what I’ve been looking for.

I’ve mentioned SO many times that I wish we had an endless summer- and that’s what I’m reminded of when I use this.  I smell fresh, like I’ve been relaxing at an exotic beach.  Since it’s an oil, it lasts a lot longer than lotions, and my skin feel soft for hours.  I’ve also used this in my hair for a gorgeous shine.

If you want a luxurious body oil that will make you feel pampered and spoiled, you need this Frangipani Monoi Body Oil from Elemis.  You DESERVE it!  Available at Elemis.com, TimetoSpa.com, and NORDSTROM.com.
