It’s almost Independence Day, one of my favorite holidays! My birthday is July 5th, and when I was a kid, I was told that the reason fireworks were done on the 4th is because I was getting ready to be born…lol! How sad I was when I found out that just wasn’t true!
The summer months here in the South are HOT. I mean, sweltering, sweaty, gross, icky hot. So, for the fourth of July, I decided to create a look that was very simple, using fewer products than I normally do. I only used THREE shades of eyeshadow, and also avoided using mascara on my bottom lashes, because being outdoors and sweating, I always end up with raccoon eyes.
Make sure to check out the video at the bottom to see how I did it- while you’re at it, please give us a “thumbs up” and subscribe, thank you!
For foundation, I used Urban Decay Naked Skin liquid foundation in 7, and Laura Mercier oil-free loose powder to set. I contoured and highlighted with Tarte’s Tarteist Contour palette, and used Jaclyn Hill’s Pampelmousse blush from the Champagne Face Palette, with Prosecco Pop highlighter on my cheek bones.
For my eyes, I used NARS Pro Prime Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base. I usually cover my whole lids from lash line to brows with a light shadow, but I tried to keep it simple, so I skipped this step. I used the Urban Decay Vice 3 palette, with Bondage in my creases, Sonic on my lids, and Last Sin to blend out my crease, with Bobby Dazzle in the inner corners near my tear ducts. To finish my eyes, I used Tarte’s Tarteist Clay Paint Liner, along with Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara, and Huda Beauty Farah #12 eyelashes.
Since I was going for simple, but still wanting something fun and different, I did my lips with Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Echo, with Freeze from the Urban Decay Vice 3 Palette for an ombre effect.
