Is there a brand in your life that will always be a fave? One that not only produces the highest quality products, but has a place in your heart, too? For me, Honey Sweetie Acres is one of those brands.
Not only is Goshen, Ohio-based Honey Sweetie Acres a socially responsible small company (see this post), but they make the highest quality goat milk and essential oil products. Thus far, I’ve tried their Bonfire Beauty and Cedarwood Essential Oil soaps (read more here), Goat Milk Lotion (read more here), Organic Peppermint Lip Balm (read more here), and Facial Cream (read more here). All of these products have proven to be very gentle, yet effective- the Facial Cream even made my list of top facial peel aftercare products (see this post)!
Goat milk is one of my favorite skincare ingredients- not only is it very moisturizing, but it’s also extremely gentle and soothes my itchy urticaria-plagued skin. So, I was really pleased to have the opportunity to try out the Honey Sweetie Acres Basil, Sage & Mint fragrance oil goat milk soap.
As with the other soaps I’ve tried, the bar is large, weighing in at 4.75-5 oz. Jerry and I both use these soaps, and each one lasts at least a month or two, if not longer. This is much more generously sized than the bars you’ll find at the supermarket or drugstore, and the ingredients are much higher quality, too- no chemicals, no sulfates, nothing questionable. The best part is, the goat milk is from Honey Sweetie Acres’ very own Nigerian Dwarf Goats, so you can be sure you’re getting the freshest, best soap ever!
The ingredients are organic coconut oil, organic extra virgin olive oil, raw goat milk, sustainable organic palm fruit oil, castor oil, organic shea butter, organic cocoa butter, phthalate free fragrance oil, green & brown earth oxide, raw Ohio honey, and Vitamin E.
The strange thing is, even though there are no sulfates or harsh chemicals, the Honey Sweetie Acres soaps actually lather. It’s not the same foamy drying lather as with commercial brands, but a creamy, denser lather. Even with such gentle ingredients, this soap gets my skin very clean, without stripping moisture.
The Basil, Sage & Mint soap, like the others, is an absolutely fabulous product. It not only performs well, but smells SO good! It’s very fresh and uplifting, not overly strong, and I swear it improves my mood and happiness level just to take a shower! My skin is clean, soft, and moisturized when I (eventually) step out.
One thing to note is that there has been a packaging change with the Honey Sweetie Acres soaps. The previous packaging was a cute fabric drawstring pouch with the company logo. The new packaging is a little brown paper bag printed with waterbased inks on 100% recycled paper.
While the little pouches were really cute and unique, the paper bags seem to be more practical, and provide more information about the company and product. The pouches would be great as an upgrade when purchasing, kind of like gift-wrapping, but I like the paper bag. There’s a list of all the different varieties on the back, with the circle filled in to denote the soap inside. This list is also great as a reference so you can have a handy list regarding the varieties available (helloooo Amber, Lilac, Lily of the Valley and Sandalwood…), as well as the ingredients.
The packaging change brings me to another point- Honey Sweetie Acres is continuously taking actions to better serve their customers. In addition to changing the soap packaging, they also changed their facial cream packaging to extend the shelf life. The founders also take pride in continuing education- they’re certified in aromatherapy, and currently participating in Formula Botanica’s Skincare Expert Program. They’re also certified by the Handcrafted Soap and Cosmetic Guild, and are members of the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy. In other words, founders Regina and Steve Bauscher truly care about, and want the absolute best for, their customers.
Overall, the Honey Sweetie Acres Basil, Sage & Mint goat milk soap did not disappoint, it’s everything I knew it would be. I pride myself on being honest in my reviews, and telling the negatives in addition to the positives. I honestly cannot think of ANY negatives with this product. None. Not a single one. So, do yourself a favor and head on over to HoneySweetieAcres.com and pick up a few- this soap retails for just $6.25, which is a phenomenal deal for the size, and you get FREE shipping on orders of $50 or more!
